40 Mbps bonded ADSL investigated

Imagine if this was a consumer MWEB product... you'd be able to download at at least 512KB/s
 
awesome, but i still have a question about the current "upgraded" ipc/provided network. can it handle this bonded product alongside current users and recently announced 10MB/s ?

Just trying to work out actual speed vs. advertised speed, I get 20KB/s from my 4MB account. :p... wait...that means you'll get 200KB/s on 40MB (x10) - Man... imagine the possibilities :twisted:
 
What a waste of time if you ask me! Only if you are a business really needing such speeds, whats the point of even a 4mb line with the high costs of the actual data usage?!
Rather make 4mb the norm, kill the 384k and 512k lines and increase data usage dramatically. That would make me a happy camper!!

80% of ADSL subscribers don't even sync at 10Mbit yet.

Bonded solution is for upload and download should be 3-4 Mbps upload

pfft, jy kla altyd.

Ja MWEB is nie sonder probleme nie, maar hulle probeer tog. Hulle het al gesê dat die huidige opgraderings ook vertragings kan veroorsaak.

My 4mb lyn is ok stadiger as gewoonlik, maar dis steeds uncapped en ek kry minimum 60KB/s, met tye steeds 310KB/s, en vir die prys wat jy betaal teenoor wat beskikbaar was in Januarie is dit steeds hemels. Niemand is perfek nie, en om die diens te lewer wat hulle tans doen ten spyte van Telkom en ander inherente probleme in die plaaslike telekoms mark gaan beteken dat die nie 100% maanskyn en rose 24/7 gaan wees nie. Hulle probeer ten minste aktief hulle diens verbeter, wat ek glo met tyd sal gebeur.

As jy dan so graag besigheidsvlakke van gerief en stabiliteit soek, kry 'n besigheidsproduk. Meer Mweb vir die res van ons om te geniet dan :D
 
I get great speeds on my MWeb 4mbps.
During the day when I use the line for work, my downloads crawl in at 10 to 20KB/s but general work related stuff flies. Perfect.
17H00 download speeds start to improve. By 20H00 they are great and midnight fantastic. I play XBox live every night with no problems. Great connection and often host the games.

I may just be one of the lucky ones, but my MWeb 4mbps uncapped gives me outstanding value.

Don't like it - don't read it... do you really think it bothers me if you think I always complain? I expect to get what I paid for.... and I really don't care what it costs in January.

A year ago a TB harddrive would of cost over a R1000 - does this mean that today I should be grateful that a TB harddrive can be had for R400 - even though it crashes all the time, or is unavailable on weekends while the firmware is updating....

I have given MWEB credit when the product is performing, and I will do exactly the same when the product is not performing.

Like I said, don't like what I have to say, use the ignore function - or don't read it.

Its just that you seem to think everyone has the same poor experience with the mweb uncapped that you have, whereas thats not the case. Which means that at least some of the blame can't apportioned to mweb for your poor adsl performance.

And equating HDD's with ADSL pricing isnt exactly a fair... if you follow that logic you should argue that buying a Chery car (look cars suddenly became cheap!) should result in you having the same car experience as buying a BMW.

Yes you do expect to get what you paid for... a best effort 4mb shaped uncapped, not a business rated product. Or move to a suburb where the mweb performs better. Your choice.

Facebook and the Free The Web group on facebook seem to say that MANY users are having the same poor experience - so it does "seem to be the case". MWEB have also confirmed issues (yet again) due to the latest upgrade.

I paid for a 4MB uncapped line, I'm getting a 160KB uncapped line. It also has nothing to do with my ADSL line, or suburb, switching to a prepaid account and I get full speeds.

Speeds are fine for a week or two, then there's an issue for a couple of weeks, then it works again... then its broken again...
 
At 40Mbps you would be better off investing in fiber to the premises, particularly since this would allow equal upload speeds. Unless you are desparate for short-term connectivity, this seems very much a niche market...

Good point, since only metro ethernet exchanges get 10mb upgrades it is very likely that FTTx will be available in the area.
