Why do we want to shorten the local loop before we upgrade the exchanges and their backhaul bandwidth ?
If this Mith's ADSL line syncs at 25mbps down, even an ADSL line which is further away should be able to sync at 10 - 15mbps.
I would say enable an interim upgrade before trying to catch up to 1st world standards.
Don't try to run before you can walk. Nobody is expecting to be on the level of US or EU broadband, telkom cannot keep up with the pace of their development for good reasons. All most people are asking is some form of upgrade, instead of years of empty promises.
It has been said many times before, the cost to deply the MSANs is much cheaper and recently when they showed off the tech, they (the techs) can monitor your SNR values remotely to troubleshoot which i am excited about (for those non-technical folks). I would rather have a choice of speed profiles upto 40Mbps than be stuck at sub 10Mbps. Am no expert so feel free to slam me down
