Hi,

I have purchased a Sinotec MP-42hc56 and I cannot get 1960*1080 resolution when using VGA input. I tried using a laptop and PC and both devices support 1080. I also tried various operating systems (XP,VISTA,WIN7). Windows 7 was the only operating system that did not use PnP device. It picked the TV as a LC-32HC36. Any suggestions as I already have Samsung HD Monitor running on my PC and laptop using VGA. The best resolution I managed to get on the TV was 1600*900 (16:9). There was a resolution higher but the aspect ration was off.

Regards,

I don't think the sinotec VGA input can do 1920x1080... the HDMI ports though can... so get yourself a DVI-HDMI convertor.

vga cable cant handle full hd.
if you want it to go up to 1080 then use either a dvi or hdmi cable.

Just like brawler said.. but I'll reiterate it.. vga cable can handle 1920x1080....

If you want to fight with me on that one, come tell it to my 1 monitor that is running at that resolution on a normal 10year old VGA cable.

I have my 40" Samsung LCD and 2x 24" inch LCD monitors running on my entertainment pc using only VGA Cables. (cards in system 1x Nvida 205GTX & 1x Nvidia 8800GT.

I however have a Phillips 42" in my bedroom that I have connected a Dell Laptop to, initially I had a problem like yourself where i could not obtain a HD resolution. eventually i sorted it out by using a docking station with the laptop and used a DVI -> HDMI converter and the LCD TV now supports 1080P.

/me points to netbook running Full HD on TV through VGA :)

thanks guys....I shall try the HDMI option.....but I will query with sinotec with the problem...

Just get a DVI-HDMI cable. You wont get the ghosting effect associated with VGA cables.

I know this thread is from ancient times, but I have the exact same issue, VGA only displays 1600x1200, if I buy a DVI-HDMI cable will I be able to output 1920x1080?
