4770 vs 4850 vs GTS250

I do agree but this just might be a exception to that rule.

The end of the year, ATi will have already realesed the HD 5th Series. so then he should choose another old card to SLI with, and have SLI problems, instead of 1 new single card that will whip both cards in SLI?

I've got a 4870X2 but there is no way in hell i'll buy another one at the end of 2009 - even the "midrange" ATI HD 5th series will probably **** all over my card.

I'm really torn over this one now. A new 4770 costs R1,1k. A new 4850 costs r1,3k. The tweaking headroom offered by the 4770 makes it a really attractive option. What do you reckon?

Hehehe...Ive been reading and considering the same thing most of the morning:D
I also cant really decide...and there the option of prophecy running another special on their Force 3d 4890 OC cards which were priced at R2300:confused:

It's really tough hey. I fancy trying some overclocking. the 4770 is a real sweet spot card. but only 128bit bus... I just can't decide.

Me neither and Im considering crossfire as well:o hence the 4890 thrown in there:erm:

4770 xfire > 1x4890 by about 20%.

Also computersonly.co.za had xfx 4870 for R1600 but out of stock currently.

I've been checking out some benchmarks and the 4770 is a monster overclocker - at 900/1000mhz it's significantly faster than the 4850 all around. For 1100 new I think this will be my next card. I may even xfire it one day :D unlikely though given current constraints.
