48÷2 (9+3) argument

I saw this in a 9Gag thread now, and the comments were crazy. Since I know all of you are so clever, what is the answer to this question?

48 ÷ 2(9 + 3) = ?

Taking the rule of BODMAS: (Brackets of Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction)

There are two ways you can go about this:

1) Take 2 * (9+3)
2) or take that part as (2*(9+3), which is how a scientific calculator (which applies bodmas) sees it. The 2(...) is seen as (2(...)).

Therefore

48 ÷ 2(9 + 3)
(Using #2)
= 48 ÷ [(2*(9+3)) = 24]
= 48 ÷ 24
=2

Taking #1 you end up with 288.
 
And this is why using the divide sign is silly.
Do anything half serious and it will always be

Completely eliminates this whole matter of people forgetting that when left with only division and multiplication you read the equation from left to right
 
Fine, I'll just leave this here for you guys to disprove. It's exactly the same thing as the original statement. Adding brackets because you can't visualise the equation is your own fault.
