Strange, my Force3d came with a Arctic cooler and it sits about 30 degrees cooler than a friends Saphire.

They are all the same thing besides maybe an aftermarket cooler on some.

What are you smoking? It's only the 4870 that requires two.

NO. You do realize that you can set the fan speed in the CCC right?

EtienneK if your monitor is bigger than 22" take the 1gig
4850 if not the 512mb. Also the 4850 has DX10.1. More future proof.
 
I love my 4850, it's an awesome GPU. And I would also love a 9800gtx+ if I had come across it. It's difficult to choose really, I'm not a fanboy. No doubt though if you were put off by previous ATI products that's no reason to turn your back on the 4xxx series, they are fantastic cards.

1. Proof that Gecube and Force3d cards overheat?
Fan-fix is old news buddy, for a while now you can set the fan to whatever speed you like, or dowlonad ATI Tray Tools and even change the automatic fan table, etc.

2. I had the ICEq4, and it DOES NOT require 2 6-pin connectors. You're thinking of a 4870.

In the end the Gtx+ is best card. But both the radeon and the geforce will run all the games on the market without any problems.It all just comes down to what you want. If you want the best performance card go gtx+ .If you just want a card that will preform well and play all the games on the market today then save a few bucks and go radeon.

The 9800gtx+ does outperform the 4850 in most cases.

However in the end there are other factors too such as heat, power consumption, drivers, price and so forth.

In the end though it's up to you. I went for the 9800gtx+ and it's a beauty of a card. I didn't know about that cheaper 4850 though and if I had I might have gone for it. I'm sure that's a beauty of a card too. :)

It's a personal choice. Take whatever will work the best for you.
