Hating to flog a dead horse here but any news on 4g LTE coming to sunny south Africa?
Can't find any recent news on her royal googlsty's searches.
4G will be here around 2014/2015 i predict, ICASA and DOC are holding some spectrum needed for 4G apparently.
I'm asking for the sake of my ipad 3
Your specific ipad bought in SA?I'm asking for the sake of my ipad 3
Well yes. Does it make a difference?
http://www.apple.com/za/ipad/#wirelessReally really fast is your only option.
The new iPad supports fast mobile data networks around the world, including HSPA, HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA. So you can browse the web, stream content or download a film at incredibly fast speeds: up to 21.1 Mbps with HSPA+ and up to 42 Mbps with DC-HSDPA.
Nowhere on the SA version does it say 4G.
The official reseller of apple products in south africa, linked from the apple website
http://www.zastore.co.za/ipad.php
"*Cellular data service is available only on iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular model. This product supports very fast cellular networks. 4G LTE is supported on this model but only on certain North American Networks. Data plans sold separately. See your carrier for details."
I got told by the reseller on the website that the iPad 3 has the capability to access 4g/LTE websites. How nice it is to now know that I've paid double the price for an inferior product.
Not sure about SA, but they were told to do so in some countries, e.g. UK, Australia, New Zealand.Think I read somewhere that Core was ordered by the court to remove any reference to 4G and ipad from their web site.
Yeah it is odd that they haven't. Removed it I mean.
