Hi Guys

i have a quick question around streaming. I know this has been mentioned so many times, but i just need a simple answer. Will a 4MB line be good enough for streams in 720p.. i dont care about Full HD 1080p things. I still prefer to stream in 480p.

Right now im on a 2MB uncapped line with TI, but looking to upgrade up, and go capped

Thanks

I currently also have a 4mb line with a capped package and streaming 720p without any issues.
Believe it or not, it streams 1080p at times too.

thanks... i can go 10 and max 20MB in my area, but due to budget constraints, im no really keen on going up now. Thus asking if this will suffice.

who is your data ISP?

Also on a 4mb. Netflix works perfectly fine at 720p. Goes to 1080p sometimes. But when browsing while using netflix I sometimes see
the quality go up and down.

A 4MBps line is great, but don't you mean a 4Mbps connection? There's a big difference

I have a 4Mbps (Mega bit per second) Telkom ISP ADSL, and can stream in 720p, but there is occasional lag.

yeh sorry 4mbps, just typed quickly now. Im happy even to be down to 480p, as right now its a struggle on the Telkom 2mb uncapped line. The quality of the 480p is pretty good to be honest, so not really bothered. But there is alot of lag even for 480p

Good to know you wont be having a DSLAM restricting your speed!
My data ISP is Webafrica, currently on home capped. I have been watching the feedback from the capped thread and people seems to be very unhappy with it for some reason? I really have no problem and running full speed all the way.

I have a 4Mbps uncapped line with Telkom Internet. I stream netflix at 720p. Takes about 30 sec to get there though. So the video starts at a lower quality and then goes up to 720p and stays there.

ive looked at WA pricing, and they not the cheapest ISP. Or is it just me, and im looking at the wrong place in terms of pricing?

Not really up to date with pricing of capped accounts, you will have to do a bit research on that one :)
Been with WA since the beginning of this year and no problems, can even give their free 1+1Gb account a go and see how it is.

Nice one, looks great. if all is good for at least 720p on a 4 meg line, then i think thats the best option for me right. I think knowing that i can go max 20, at least gives me security should i want to upgrade further

Streaming won't be a problem as long as you have the right package, the line speed itself is great.

i mainly do a bit of sports streaming now and then, and a few things here and there. i dont do downloads of torrents etc and i dont Game either. But i recently watched a football match in slow motion lol

You will be absolutely good to go for 720p video on a 4Meg line. Just as long as you have a good ISP

Hi, i might be a bit off topic here. Hi have a 4 meg line with Telkom, and stream kodi with the VOX bolt on. Lately I find that kodi is buffering a lot. Can someone tell me how to fix this

Glad that we making you happy :)

I have a 4MB line with an MWeb 4MB Uncapped standard account.
Streaming 720p from YouTube works great.

With my Telkom account it also works great!
