4MB Service

The lady I spoke to at the call centre told me that the upgrade would take 5 to 7 days because the technician would have to do the upgrade at the exchange. I did a speed test 15 minutes later and I was hitting 3.3Mbps.

That's what they say but mine was changed the same day after applying for the upgrade.

Got my new line installed the day after I called Telkom.

I've been lurking on this thread and it's driving me crazy. I'm itching to up my 384, and you guys aren't helping one bit!

Take it dude, you won't be dissapointed. And all you will have to deal with is spending the last week or so of the month surfing local sites as you are capped.:D

4MB FTW!!

Im loving this 4MB line... but only 1Gb left of Cap :( and I need to reinstall Vista and Update my steam games arrrggghh when does it end

We sitting with a 4mb uncapped and a 384k 5 gig.

Im usually on the 4mb but when i go onto the 384k, it feels slower than dialup.

5 minutes is all it took!

Okay, I went ahead and did the 4mb upgrade (thanks to all of you it became impossible to hold out!).

From calling 10217 until the router showed the upgrade took 5 minutes. Astounding!

First test looks good - 3391down/423up

Thanks for the push - now let's go burn up some of that IS semi-shaped.

yup! dont even bother with the 512kb, fork out the extra R150 or what ever it is and go for the 4mb, you wont be sorry!

R87 from 512 to 4096:D.
R261 from 384 to 4096 :(.

The price difference between 384 and 512 is pathetic considering you won't even feel the speed difference.

Those prices are outdated. The prices have definitely dropped. I think I'm paying about R200 less now, but I have two accounts as well. The line rental has also dropped.

Those are the latest prices for business and home;). I suggest you check your bill:D.

Nope, it's definitely not. I've been paying less for months now and those prices on their site has been that way ever since it's inception. So either they haven't updated their site or I'm getting special treatment ;)

Not true - 1024 (now 4096) was previously > R600.

The R413 was confirmed by the call centre person:confused:.

As I said, just another reason to get the 4mb, think about it, you are actually saving your life by getting 4mb adsl, you will spend less time waiting for stuff to download and more time doing other moe enjoyable things thereby maximising you time doing the things you like, more time spent doing what you like means happier people, happier people fight less, less fighting means less wars, less suffering, 4mb adsl could be the solution to world peace :D

They only add vat at the end so the amount you would see is R362.28 (excl.VAT).

Also, line rental is shown seperately from DSL subscription.

Lol dude. I used to see the R426. I don't pay that anymore. Now I only see the R350-odd. It mentioned something about a discount that I've been getting. I thought everyone was this lucky.
