4Mbps "Trial" over?

Getting full speed here.

Yep - between 5 and 6km - and they said I wouldn't get much above 6mb/s when they installed the line.

I thought 4mbps was the maximum speed currently available. Or was the techie thinking ahead?

He must have worked for Sanlam before joining Telkom... Sanlam; Always thinking ahead.

The max speed of adsl is (iirc) 8mb/s - telkom has it throttled back to 4mb/s. The speed the tech reported was what the line itself would be capable of if telkom ever opened it up.

What speed are you syncing at?

Try calling telkom, its possible they might have put you on a 1mb profile due to an unstable line, thats what they did to me. When i changed routers and called them it was back on 4mb
 
I'm syncing @ 4096 and getting 430-450 kb/s off the saix server.

Some international sites give me below 4096 and closer to 1024, but that's expected, since SAIX's int is stuffed ;)
 
multi threaded downloads on is renders full speeds yes :)

but single VS single on saix and is - saix wins hands down...

...you will know its over when you see that R8000.00 bill from telkom hehehe
