4x4 Fun

Can't you disconnect sway bars manually on the Sahara. Seem to remember reading that somewhere...

Yes you can!, Its a must, You can buy some swaybar disconnects , which simply replaces the bolts , then you dont have to use tools to take them out , or you could use some spanners right on the trail, just be sure to secure them so they can jam when the Jeep articulates, and remember to put it back when you leave the trail, cus you dont want to try and take a sharp corner on Tar with out them being connected.

In fact if you have them manually disconnected it will allow them articulate better than a Rubicon's Auto Swaybar disconect cus the auto disconnect does not fully disconnect the swaybar, especially when the Jeep is Lifted.

Here's my JK Rubi 2010.

The Low range on the above is unstopable

Before the JK, i had this TJ Sahara.

Very nice!! On a different note. What is the reliability like on the JK? I am looking at getting one for me..

Thanks

**EDIT ** Apologies for double post. Damn browser went all funky!!

It's Reliable. I haven't had a days problem with it, the 2010 I have still has the 3.8L , I think from 2012 onwards they changed the motor to a 3.6l which is called the penta star, it has much more power than the 3.8, people recon after adding a RIPP super charger to the 3.8 you wil get about the same power compared to the 3.6L

The 3.6 in the beginning had a dreaded cylinder issue which caused it to shut down, but I believe that problem is now something of the past.

Other than the engine, the rubicon comes with Dana 45 front and back diffs, which are quite strong and has an excellent reputation, the Sahara has a 30 in the front and a I think 45 at the back (speaking under correction)
All of the other cosmetics are quite rugged, I have been all over the place with my jeep and its fine,.

If you will be getting the JK try get a rubicon, the little extra you pay goes a very long way, with the swaybar disconnect, diff lock front and back, stronger diffs dana45 as mentioned, tru-loc TCase as opposed to the trac-loc transfer case, the gearing on the the rubi is also different, so when you go bigger on wheels you don't need to spen 20k on each diff to get the gear ratios back to normal,

I'm running 305/75/17 just over 33" and the gearing is now pretty much the same ratio as the Sahara. If I had the Sahara I would have lost loads of power, and already I can feel the less power after upping the wheels.

jeeps are sooooo cool! It's not just a good looking 4x4 , to really works, often jeep wins the 4x4 of the year awards,

That will be fun for everybody except the poor bugger in the Juke! ;)

Well, he says there is a 4x4 button in it :wtf:
Still going to be fun thou. :D Something to practice recovery on.

So what is the correct procedure to recover a Juke stuck on a speed bump?

Take 1 x 5 litre can of 95 octane fuel - apparently Engen is best because it has the most additives ...;)

Take one oily cloth and tie it to the filler cap

Soak cloth in Engen

Take one box of matches, and strike the match towards you ( makes you look more Butch)

Apply flame of lit match to Engen soaked cloth

Run like hell and enjoy the fireworks...:p
