Ok, from what I have read so far it sounds like the heroics we had in TBC.

The heroics are of raid quality, no more running through the dungeon with the healer not needing a Mana break at least once after every 3 pulls. No more "Pull the whole room so we can AoE them". No more pulling 4 mobs without using CC.

The more I read the more I remember our days in TBC running into SL and it took ages to do it right, one wrong step and you did a corpse run. Soul Stones was a must before every pull. and and and.

Now if this is the case I'm very happy and can't wait for Cataclysm. I remmber in TBC it was hard to get into an Heroic PUG with an alt, best way to get your gear as an alt was within a supportive guild. The heroics was just too hard to be getting in there without having at least bought some crafted gear.

WoTLK has failed in sooooo many ways if you think back at it now. 90% of guilds never progressed past Kara as they could not get Kara cleared to gear enough to progress and so on. If Cataclysm brings that aspect of the game back I will love it for years to come. Now currently, hit 80 farm heroics in quest greens, buy t10 gear faceroll ICC. I MEAN SERIOUSLY ?!?!?!?!?!

That being said:

I have a funny feeling this is going to start out great being epic hard and gearing/progression will be slow. 2 months after launch you will have the 12yo kids QQ'ng about how hard it is. Accounts get canceled, Blizzard bends over and nerf the content, introduce another "free epics" scheme and Cataclysm joins the fail expansion section.

I hope Blizzard learned from their mistakes in WoTLK and keep to their guns this time. In TBC you would have 1 maybe 2 toons of raid/progression standard. There was just not enough time to gear alts up to that level. In WoTLK everyone has 7-9 toons in ICC gear......

One can only hope I guess :)

I think WotLK did great. I quit WoW for long time just before Black Temple hit, I was that tired. Came back and it was a blast, easy to gear up and join in on the fun. Blizzard truly made it something else, making it very accessible to average Joe. Yes some people dont like it yadayadaya. But look at how many people is playing the game now, see the content ect. I bet they are making 10 times more money with Wrath than what they did with Classic and TBC. Don't miss understand, I was there, I raided, been there done that.

My bet is, the game will be a little bit harder, but as you progress things will get easier and they will get back to where Wrath is. While you may call it the worst expansion, I think its one of the best actually. It really was fun to feel a tiny bit overpowered for a change.

Sure there wasn't a real contest at the end, but hey we will get a new challenge soon enough :)

I'm actually seeing more dead servers now than ever before :(
In TBC the servers where always pretty full, log in now and the servers are just about empty. Just the addictive people still playing (me included) :D

Hmm yea, at present (imo) WoW really is boring. For me it's to the extent that it just sucks, no challenge and faceroll with whiners left right and center. These days people expect you to never fail, if you do... oh boy. WoW really needs some rebooting and I hope cataclysm does just that. Epics are pathetically lame now, it just feels like theres nothing to play for.

TBC premades dont compare to the premades we had in classic, those were the real hardcore days. From TBC it never felt the same, the game changed, and with it I also changed to adapt to the new style enjoyed it

I kind of agree with Tinuva. Its way more accessible to the average Joe and thus the biggest group of people they make their money from. Which is not always a bad thing. HC modes for more elite ppl etc.

@ Pitbull there are more people playing now than there every was. Statistics shows it.

Show me these statistics please?

I saw 10 allies in my server the other day, When I announced it in trade chat ppl told me a liar and misc other bad names, then I told em to come to the Ally bank in Dala, then they all went like :O

True story

Thats what you get for playing on a private server scrub :p

I agree with Pitbull all the way
The state of the game is way out of balance for someone like me , I want a sense of achievement , I want my gear and playing abilites to mean something.
How can you justify leaving the game cos only the elite of elite could get that great raiding gear ? seriously ? why dont people who complain about not been able to do much in this game go and find another game to play where they can bash and score from the start.

Wow was doing just fine back in the day before the QQ'ers came into play , My guild used to PUG 20 man and 40 raids for those poeple who couldnt do it ... People / players need to understand the term " End Game Content " FFs yes its going to be hard !! so dont go complain becos you fail at it !!

And yes Pitbull you are on the money when you said " Eventually Blizz will nerf it for kiddies "

I cant wait for the new instances , CC and some serious tactics ! Its going to be a blast !! im not even worried about the end game raids !! I just want to get back to the good old days of WOW ... before the 13year olds ruin it !

OK so this again, let me explain again...
So when ICC came out all just levelled alts, farmed hc's and face rolled LK in the 1st week it was released and then the next week face rolled LK HC. Dream on. YES things are allot easier or maybe allot more accessible now. But I don't think you understand.
The game is NOT made for you or me or the small other small % of ej's out there. It’s made with the masses in mind these days and then adding a little bit extra for people like me and you. HC modes, Mounts etc.

People pay for an expansion like WOTLK and pay monthly subs, are they not suppose to have a shot @ all the content with a little bit of focus in the end? (ie atleast see LK on 10 normal) Do every1 who want to at least try and see most of the content have to raid in a hardcore raiding guild, 5 days a week? How big a % of the players have actually completed 100% of WOTLK? IE LK 25 HC? Have you?

The aim is for a very big % of the people to actually see all the content in an expansion by the end of it. (hence the ICC 30% buff you see now) They do actually pay for it don't they?
A smaller % will get the ICC10 mount, yet a smaller % Bane of the Fallen King title, ICC25 mount & Light of Dawn title etc.

What is the use for Blizz to spend a crap load of time and money on content that 50 people in the world is going to finish? Great business model idea you have there.

I think Blizz are doing great with the game. I am happy with how cata looks atm thou, somewhat harder. That will suit me, maybe not every1. I do hope in the end its very accessiblee for the masses, BUT I do also hope that more of the HC mode bosses is really, really hard.

In the end it is a game and one are suppose to be able to 'finish' it without devoting your whole life to it. If you cannot evolve with it, it's really time to find a new game.

(hell why do I feel like I've said all this before somewhere here :0)

PitBull is right IMO.

I remember the days of vanilla wow when you had to have the best of the best to successfully pull off a good Zul raid, etc etc.

When TBC came along it got easier to do raids, epics were more common but you still had to work for them, you still had to have some kind of skill.

WotLK brought simplicity, in one sense it was quite nice. I got my dudu alt fully geared from greens to epics in 1 week of heroic farming (I had a lot of spare time >.>) this actually made the game nicer for me, I had already worked on a few other characters grinding through naxx for 6+ Hours fingers hurting from excessive healing. T'was a nice break to get all I needed for my druid in a week. Another problem was that no one was going to nax anymore once Uld came out so gearing a character would have been near impossible.

But the easy gear also made it possible for the n00bs to penetrate and my god, penetrated they did.
I'm a natural healer, I love healing and I'm bloody good at it but I found once gear became easy to get the quality of the other healers around me started dropping like brown out of a bunny. In ICC I was more than often the top healer having 50%+ higher healing than any of the other guys and our gear was pretty much the same, some even had better stuff than me. Gear has seemed to have taken over from skill, in Cata I hope they swing this around.

Make it easier to get starting gear so you don't have to grind it on 6 alts but don't make it so easy or the gear so good that any old arse in a hat with a pointy stick and a ridiculous mustache can come in go"wabbbbba" and get em some epicz. If you know that I mean.

I'm pretty sure they are trying to fix this, from what I heard they are trying to bring back that feeling I'm sure we all had in vanilla WoW, when things were truly up to your still and not what you had inserted where ^_^.
