Hi all,

I'm a little confused and frustrated. I applied for a line installation on the 31st January. After phoning several times for a provisional date I was given the 4th March - which is 5 weeks from the original order date. After escalating my order it was bumped up to the 2nd March...wow. Saving a lot of time there.

Now only once the line is installed can I order ADSL - who knows how long that will take. I will be transferring my current WebAfrica line to the new place.

The reason why I am so desperate for a decent installation time - 3 weeks at most - is that I am a postgraduate student and I desperately need ADSL access. I'm a statistics major and need to download large datasets so wireless is not an option.

Is there any way I can speed up the order? It's in the Waterkloof, Pretoria area.

put on your best sad face at their direct shop and explain your dilemma. personally i wouldn't tell them it is my intention to migrate the line

I know 5 weeks is a short time compared to some of the horror stories on this site...but anything longer than 2 weeks is ridiculous. I think I just have too much faith in South African service levels.

Belagarion: you should be able to get the ADSL line installed on the day that your telephone line is installed.

Otherwise, go to your neighbour and see if you can use his/her ADSL.
