500 GB

@kianm

whats your setup with mikrotik e.t.c

I run an Ubiquiti network and realized I can use my USG gateway's WAN2 port to route over two connections. The USG doesn't do policy based routing so I couldn't setup time based routes, you can only select load balancing or failover to WAN2.

To make it work I then switched my uncapped to WAN2 and plugged another router with the 500GB sim to WAN1 then set the 2 connections in failover mode(WAN1 primary WAN2 failover).

The idea is the USG prefers to use WAN1 so from 7am to midnight the USG will be routing over failover link WAN2 but constantly checking if WAN1 is back online and soon as the clock hits 12am the 500GB (WAN1) comes up and the default route changes to WAN1 till 7am.

Still testing the setup the challenge is I don't trust the reliability of the spare router I plugged into WAN1 I'm going to have to maybe get a B593 or something to properly test this setup. It's working somewhat but I think the spare router is my problem the speeds are not great and there is packet loss. If this later proves to be 100% reliable then I'll ditch the Mikrotik plan

I did similar with my asus a time ago,but the connection detection rule for failback triggered on connect rather than on 'routable' traffic. Worked fine with custom firmware and keepalive ping rules and a scheduled restart at midnight

Got an SMS on my router this morning that the 500GB will come to an end 4 may

It's happening. Received on all 4 of my LTE uncapped sims...

Uncapped? It was never supposed to be available to uncapped so it may be that.

The 500GB SmartBroadband Wireless Night Surfer once-off and recurring bundles shall be available
to be purchased by SmartBroadband Wireless and Smart Broadband Wireless LTE-A subscribers
only, excluding the SmartBroadband Uncapped wireless.

Anybody able to confirm if prepaid is losing out as well? Or only uncapped being scrapped out?

Nothing on my prepaid either. This 500GB deal has been running for 10 months now! There must be a good reason why they kept it going for so long. If/when it gets removed I hope something similar replaces it. Honestly it's the only reason why I got a Telkom sim and ditched Cell C.

I received an SMS on Thursday (19/04) on my 20GB + 20GB contract.
