500 GB

I have 3 different data types on the same sim:

- 20GB contract night data
- 20GB contract anytime/daytime data
- 500GB prepaid night data

What I expected to happen was my 20GB contract night data get used up and then it switch to using the 500GB prepaid night data. Instead it switched to the 20GB anytime/daytime data which was almost fully depleted. The reason I have 3GB daytime data left is because of the scheduler which stopped the downloads at 7:00am. I estimate roughly 30GB was downloaded last night, none of which came from the 500GB bundle.

This also happened last month when I bought the 500GB bundle on 22/08/2017. However back then I thought the system was just set up to use data which was expiring first which was my contract data. So I didn't set up any downloads again until last night.

Aah, I hear you.

I know the data doesn't kick in exactly @ 00:00, like @ 00:05, and what I usually do, I turn off data (or modem) on and off, although I just have the 500GB deal only. Do you do this, or do you expect it to automatically switch by itself?

I have the 20GB+20GB contract as well as the 500GB.

I scheduled some downloads last night and my contract data was used instead of the 500GB. All 20GB contract night data was used up and then it started using my daytime 20GB of which I now have only 3GB left for the whole month. Meanwhile there is 422GB left (I used some of it last month) of the night data which expires on 22/09/2017 which I am no longer going to use as it is taking away my contract data first.

Will not buy again. This is something that Vodacom would do. Did not expect this mess up from Telkom.

I think you need to do as Bond does and start a new session [little after 00:05]. The other solution is to get a prepaid sim and just pop the sim in with the scheduler.

I agree, they need to figure out a way to not let it eat into daytime data :(. Perhaps they will in the future.

I was awake when the downloads started after 12:00am and saw my 20GB contract night data being depleted. So thought it was fine and that it would switch to the 500GB afterwards instead of the 20GB daytime.

You can also reboot your modem via your phone using the Huawei Hilink app.

Telkom definitely gave my connection speed a haircut after using up 250gb last month, i could barely get over 20mbps on average. Now its hovering around 35-45mbps , I thought that capped data was throttle free?

So I tested downloading again last night. My 500GB bundle was being used after midnight so I went to bed. It went from 422GB to 362GB, 60GB in 7 hours so good speeds. However my remaining 3GB daytime data somehow was also used up. Also had a 1GB top up used up which was remaining from last month. So now I have no daytime data.

I'm using Bittorrent with the scheduler set from 12am to 7am. This has always worked perfectly in the past. So either:

- Bittorrent is giving issues and not stopping the downloads at the right time. I can see that they're all stopped at the moment by scheduler so that seems ok.

- The Telkom data switches from the 500GB bundle to my anytime data during the night.

- Or night surfer hours are not 12am to 7am like I thought.

This is more trouble than it's worth. I had to top up 3 times last month at R139 per 2GB because of this, thinking it was my mistake. Going to just switch to my 5GB CellC sim and use that for the remainder of the month and just use the Telkom sim at night for downloading until month end. Topping up Telkom is going to be a waste because I can't control what data is used.

That is true, my 4TB is about to full, need to delete or get another.

I have about 15GB left plus another 500GB :D

I also do the same and utorrent is always accurate make sure you add like 15min on the schedule just to be safe, that is why I have a sim card I use only for the night bundles and for daytime I have a Mifi.

How do you add 15 mins to the scheduler in UT? All I see is hours?

Is the 500gb still on?

I had one last month, only used like 200gb of it but still a bonus for 50 bucks.

How you do that ?

1.Log into your telkom account online or on app ( did mine on app )
2. Go to TopUp & AddOn
3. Select LTE bundle recurring
4. Select 500Gb/R50
5. Select billing - CreditCard or account
6. Profit off the interwebz.

How to check data left and date purchased?

App most accurate, online is as of previous midnight.
