500 GB

Prepaid and contract. Or contract only?
That tweet from Telkom ain't specific so.......

If they went ahead and made a formal clear announcement that would have been great

Just had a chat with an agent on the Telkom website. They said it will expire after a month. When I told them about their deceptive message they just apologised for the inconvenience and abruptly ended the session. SMH

Surely that can be reported to the ASA / CPA?

Hi, Sorry if I am repeating the discussion.
Just read the "Telkom’s awesome 500GB for R50 deal is ending"
I am intrigued by the final statement:
"The confirmation from Telkom follows customers receiving a message stating the promotion was ending.
The message stated that users will be able to purchase this bundle up to 4 May 2018.
Bundles purchased before this date will be valid until all data has been depleted, stated the message."

Is this for real? Will it last longer than 31 days ie months or even years? Does not seem likely!
ICASA stated:
“The second one is the rollover of data; all licensees are required to provide an option to consumers to roll over unused data. This will ensure that consumers do not lose unused data as it’s the current practice.” Any idea if/when it takes effect?

Any and all comments welcome.

The way I see it, it's abit of a grey area - on the one hand the supposed message states that data will be valid until used up but their standard T&C's state 30 days - so any dispute to the "supposed" message of data validity and the client will be directed to their T&C's. From my understanding mobile networks have until the end of May to respond to the data rollover issue and so the only quagmire in this whole escapade is if the data bought before the deadline date will be valid longer than a month as stated in that message.

My take is it would not hurt to load up a bundle or two before then and see what happens - The worst you can do is lose a few bucks. Risk to reward ratio looks good to me.
