504 Gateway Timeout when accessing Google

Seems everyone is reporting the 504 errors started on the 11th.

Anyone with better resolution? Was it first thing in the morning, after noon, etc?

Trying to correlate it with some network stats.

It was early morning when I first attempted to login to gmail (about 8:30am)

Well, I think you have demonstrated a perfect example on how to use technology to keep contact with the customer by creating an account in this forum.

No doubt you have heard of Twitter, more and more organisations are beginning to use twitter to keep in touch of their customers (702 is already there). More and more people live on twitter on keep in touch with people they follow.

It could be useful to keep your 'followers'/customers regarding status notices that relate to the service. It can also help you track how your customers are experiencing the service http://search.twitter.com/search?q=vodacom

OK, makes sense.

I've looked at using other channels before but am worried about the overhead in maintaining them and creating an expectation that is then not maintained. Look what happened to the other providers who came and went here on myADSL.

So at this point, Vodacom is officially on myBroadband but not on any other site.

I have registered vodacom3g as per your suggestion :), but will think a bit about it first.

I just tested it at now again during lunch time. Still times out.

Ping does go through without any problems. I tried tracert as well, but it times out on almost all of the hops, and on all sites that I tried.

This is the response from tracert for www.google.co.za

Are you guys still seeing the 504 errors and if so, how can I simulate it? (Which sites, etc.)

We're not seeing any increase in 504 errors in the stats and are battling to duplicate them.

yes, i am
mostly on:
google.com
google.com/adsense
google.com/analytics
joomal.org
bonanzi.co.za

most other sites are working but super slow?

I was still getting the 504 errors when I tried on lunch. The only site that is affected for me was www.google.co.za. GMail and other sites (local and international) worked fine.

I did see that some sites would load and display fully, but doesn't finish completely. It keeps the loading icon on the task bar and tab bar. On the one site I saw it was www.google-analytics.com that was causing it to not complete.

I will check again when I get home at about 5PM and then post again.

i have tried from 2 modems (both those huwai white vodafone ones), from a few pc's and got the same problem
my friend tried from his same modem, sitting next to me and everything is ok?
is it not something with the IP's? like that batch of IP addresses or something?

Have you checked your APN's?

Also, won't you update your location field?

Same here using 3g Router and have intermitant problems accessing www.google.*, all other sites (local and international) work fine.

I've resorted to using yahoo and msn....

Just tried to go to vodacom.co.za

and I got a blank page with this message :
Access Denied by intermediary. Domain not recognized.
