I have i just put internet as the APN and changed the network settings to GPRS/EDGE only. And it works for me using it now to type this reply.

Amazed? Prepaid users can go where the best deal is - contract subscribers are pretty much locked in for a while. Not sure I understand what your point is. They still have to pay cellc. I'm not convinced Vodacom, MTN and CellC's ownership of their networks would prevent them from dropping princes in a second if they wanted to.

I think by using the other networks Virgin has to pay them back for the usage, so their profits are very low.

No i am using MTN's software 1000 times better then the Vodafone Dash. You can make call's and everything from it. There is also this program called MultiNet which Cell C is testing for there Data Card's. That also works.

And where do one get these software? I'm struggling to get anything Cell-C/Virgin related working with my Vodafone software. Works fine in my phone though.

EDIT: Found Multinet , busy downloading will see how that works out. What's the MTN software called?

I tried the above with my MTN Huawei card without any success.

Anybody else managing to get the Huawei card to work with Virgin Mobile?

No (E620 Card). Connection just times out.
What dial up number should one use

You can't get the MTN software anywhere it only comes with the card. And try 'internet' and 'vdata' as apn's and dial up number *99#. also set your card to GPRS/EDGE only.

I think one has to first make a phone call before GPRS is enabled.
GPRS now works on my phone but now the MTN app gives a 619 error.
I think it could have something to do with with the fact that the card connects to a vodacom cell instead of a Cell C one.

Also could not get the E620 card to work with Virgin . Tried "internet", "vdata" and "VirginInternet" as apn, but without any luck . When using on 6230 as dialup for computer then it works fine. I have also trie the MTN F@stLink and Vodacom Dashboard s/w but nothing works.

Given up for the moment, using VM in phone to connect to internet, at least it's cheaper @ 50c/MB .

Fails with my Option HSDPA Card , it struggled to even pick up the SIM nevermind the network.

I then turned my Jasjar into a USB modem , using number combinations of *99# , *99***1# and the internet/vdata apns. Refuses to connect.

Inserting my Vodacom SIM, it works without any problems [as USB modem].

GPRS works fine ON my Jasjar itself though [with the Virgin Sim], but any attempt of trying to get it to my PC/Laptop failed so far.

Try the following modem init string :

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","vdata"

It worked for me on my Nokia 6230.

(Still no luck on my Huawei data card).
