Thanks for getting that link put up on your site 2C Telecoms. Greatly appreciated.

In answer to the various previous posting (Leave got in the way of any swift reply :)

Snormossel: It's a lengthy process, with the F/W being tested both by us, and then by Telkom, once we have ironed out any know errors. The reason for the length of testing is that there are many different H/W and S/W configurations possible, and we like to test compatibility with as many as different configurations as possible. Obviously, this is not always possible (Actually, this is quite impossible), and this is where many of those rather annoying issues creep in.......

XRayA4T : I have replied in an email about the apparent break in the Admin screen, but will comment publicly in the forum for all other users following this thread ....... it is always advisable after doing ANY firmware upgrade on ANY hardware ( unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise) to do a default reset once you have upgraded. This is to ensure that you are running the whole of the firmware, and not leaving sections of the old firmware etc. in memory, and trying to run bits of each. Unfortunately, this WILL result in a loss of personal settings, but it is quite easy to save your configuration and re-load it afterwards. This will give you the best chance of a smooth transition to the new firmware.

Bekdik: yes, well spotted. :) Not that you can always believe date stamps though... that’s why we use version numbers ;) this is the latest Approved firmware... I cannot remember the release date of this F/W, but it IS the latest Approved F/W. There is newer F/W under evaluation, and that will be posted on our website as soon as it is approved - and, I will post a notice on this forum so that all interested parties will be able to download and will not need to keep checking the website... Bekdik, perhaps you could send me your email address ????? I may like to discuss something with you......

Thanks 2C. I was expecting the firmware update to automatically reset the router so was surprised when it did not and I could still connect. I agree that a reset is probably always a good idea.

I have been trying to connect my new HP pavilion laptop to the 5102G router for 2 days now,...

Telkom call centre is more like hell on earth (that's just trygin to get hold of someone that can string a full sentence together)

All I'm looking to do is upgrade teh firmware on the router as the support from Microsoft say that the router is teh problem.
I have downloaded the "latest" firmware version from the http://www.telkomphones.co.za/5102g.htm site... as well as the billion site...
I'm not going to try the Billion firmware just yet, as Im not a techie, and dont wanna loose the warrenty...
I've tried runnign through the process of upgrading teh firmware on the router, but every time I look into the router, it's still on the old version...

Help please...?

@ 2C Telecoms, can you get your webmaster to put the version number for the current firmware on your site? The filename is Telkom5100ras.zip and that doesn't tell me what version it is. ;)

May to please send me alink where I can download the firmware for 4102g router. Mine has only the power light on after upgrading with a wrong one - 5100AW_a10_14_2_21

If you take another look at the site, you will see that it is now possible to see version numbers. Thanks, Xistenz, for the suggestion.

The firmware that was on the site also lookes to me like it could have become corrupt/mixed up by the webmaster, so its little wonder that some people have been having upload problems ! for the 5102G, check the link on is page http://www.telkomphones.co.za/5102g.htm it now has working F/W

I am just a bit confused that the version on the billion website is version 2.7.0.23 and has a release date of April 2007. Should I stick to what i have or go for the newer date version on billion site...?

Hi,
in one of your posts, I note that you mentioned saving the router/modem's config. How do you do this? I don't see such a facility on my router.
Tks in advance,
DaveK

I used the following link to download the latest firmware version 5102G_2_9_5_3(ZUE0.B1)3_5_18_0

http://www.telkomphones.co.za/5102g.htm

After upgrading everything works fine but for some reason I can only view the STATUS of the modem at the online interface. (Even changed the screen resolution to 1024 but there is still NO LINK whatsoever where I for example can change the connection settings, restart the modem etc.

The only link is the Device Info link (and that page is anyway the default page I see when log into the online interface)

Any advice would be appreciated please.
