512 upgrade, what about 384?

Well, with the 512kbs upgrades to 1Mbs what happens for us guys on 384kbs connection, or are we sucking the hind tit as usual ... ?
 
Sadly, no upgrades for us 384kbps user's
 
Maybe, just maybe, when the 512 to 1024 upgrades are completed, they may up all the 384's to 512.
With the new 1024's still at 512 pricing (or lower) and the new 512's still at 384 pricing (or lower).
That'll be a good (but not great) start.

Pinky already mentioned that there will be no improvements in the entry level product as the margin on it is too low.

The increase in speed is it try entice the 384k guys to increase their line to 1mb.

You already had your upgrade when 192 Kbps was upgraded to 384 Kbps. 512 Kbps was never upgraded.

there was no 512 before/back then. do1 "fast"192, do2 "faster" 384, and do3 "fastest" 1 to 4meg. those already on 384 got degraded, except if your line was with someone else who i won't mention

Please go back and do a bit of research. 512 Kbps was the only speed available when ADSL was launched in this country.

The offering then grew to 192, 384, 512 and 1024. When 1024 was upgraded to 4 Mbps, 192 was upgraded to 384 and the existing 384 users therefore had an effective price decrease. There was then a price reduction the following year, with 384 and 4 Mbps users receiving the biggest price decreases, and 512 users receiving the smallest price decrease.

So I'm really not interested in hearing 384 users say that they have been ignored, when it is in fact the 512 users who have always been neglected. This upgrade is well overdue for them.
 
What we need is to get free lines from Melkskommel and pay only for data usage!
 
All speeds are overdue for upgrade in SA.
Isn't Fibre Optic supposed to be starting in the next 2 years or so (in the Durban area)?
Once that happens suddenly Telkom will be able to have a minimum speed of 2 Megs. for everyone.
 
Can't somebody please just sticky at thread saying "384k users are not getting speed upgrades EVER". Maybe then there won't be a new thread everyday asking the same question.
 
I know it becomes tiring - hearing us plebs asking about increase in our measly speeds! But moaning on MBB is the only thing we can do on our speeds :(

So, don't blow us okes out of the water - let us dream of one day having speeds of 4 / 10mbs! ;)
