5770 or 4870

Luther55: what PSU (specific brand an model) do you have? A CoolerMaster GX550W PSU should be fine for your rig, running either 2x HD 5770 or 1x HD 5870.
 
@ lounger......yeah, I did check gumtree but was unsuccessful in finding a card of my choice.

The same guy has another card like that, and i offered to purchase off him at the price that the same auctioned closed at, but yet he wants R1200 for it.....flippen mad if you ask me as i could sell my brand new 5770 for half that price and put the R1200 in and get a 2nd hand 6870, so it's not worth me purchasing at that price.

for sli or crossfire does it have to be the EXACT same card... or is it just preferable

would I be able to cross a (same model) toxic and vapour-x for example?
 
SLI & CrossFire requires that the card is of the same GPU, but the brand doesn't have to be the same.

well, i just ordered my 5770 (the 2nd one) therefore i will receive it next week and give crossfire a bash for the first time (never really was an ati lover until now lol).
