Hi all

When I took the phone out of my pocket it was switched off, tried to switch it on again and I only get a white screen then it goes blank and the backlight stays on for a while. It's also not charging, tried a different battery and it does the same, so that's not the problem.

Any help on this? I'm really not keen on sending it in for repairs...

try giving ur fone the 3 finger treatment ... hard format ... how u do it :
first swithc off phone, then hold *, 3 & call (green) buttons down and dont let go.... while still held, power on ur device, and still hold until u see "formatting" or nokia logo ... but jus remember u'l lose all ur data/apps so use at own risk .....

Tried that already with no luck... :( Any more ideas guys? The phone is about a year and 2 months old and never been dropped hard enough to cause any damage.

did u try taking out the sim, then trying the hard format?? mite as well takeout ur memory card as well and try hard format ....

Nope but I am also having kark with my one, dead pixels and a snapped sim card catch, TBO I'm not impressed with how fragile these phones are. Nokia better catch a wakeup with their build quality.

if all else fails, take to Nokia care ... to fix is usually free if its within ur 2 year warrantee period, and so long as u havent tampered physically with the phone, no water damage, etc .... ur software is probably corrupt ...

I have seen memory cards cause the handset to fail booting but you'd usually get to the Nokia logo at least! 99.9% chance its a firmware issue, not something you can resolve yourself.

Took the memcard out, still the same problem, so I don't think that's the problem. Going to take it in on saturday, hopefully someone can sort it out for me.

So I took it to Nokia care in Somerset West last Saturday. They called me on Tuesday telling me they found traces of liquid damage...
I think I would've known if I jumped into a pool with my phone in my pocket?!?!?! Not worth arguing with them, they are suppose to be the experts. Imho I think they just don't know what's wrong with it.
Going to take it to one more cellphone repair guy for another opinion.
