6850 vs GTX460 vs ???

Got the 6850 Toxic. Would've preferred Asus but no stock.

Thanks once again guys. :)

Gonna try it out later. I suppose I can expect similar performance to that of my old GTX280.

Actually slightly better.

Actually slightly better.

20% better on average

Sweet guys. When I eventually found the latest Tomshardware hierarchy, I was pleased to see the 6850 sitting above the GTX280. Really great value for money card.

Btw, I would like to echo what was said in the review that was linked earlier - the extra bits and pieces and connectors included with the Sapphire HD6850 Toxic are great.

I haven't browsed many sites yet, mainly this forum. Getting a strange problem with displaying text in posts. What could it be? Yeah, probably time for a reinstall of Winblows.

The problem only lasts for a few seconds, then goes away.

I don't see anything wrong with that post. I see all the text. The problem is with you, not with winblows.

Ignore the troll... Have you run a stress test on your new GPU yet? Should be the first thing you do to any new piece of hardware - stress the cr@p out of it to make sure it works properly :D Run furmark for 10 minutes and report back! Look for strange artifacts and also watch the temps.

Ran Furmark for about 20 seconds only yesterday. Will run for longer.

Are there ideal settings to use for Furmark?

Not really, as long as its stresses the GPU 100%. I tend to turn all the settings on full, and leave the resoution at 1024x768 so that I can have MSI afterburner open next to it to monitor GPU usage and temps.

Use driver sweeper to remove your nvidia display drivers.

At 14 minutes now. 82'C max. Everything seems fine. :)

Ok... what Windows you running? W7 should happily run both drivers. But do try uninstall the old Nvidia ones. Then which version of the AMD drivers are you using? Remember to update both CCC and the driver itself. Um... And furmark gave no issues?... Will think a bit more...

XP 32-bit. :D

Having no luck with Driver Sweeper (DS). See above. Where else can I look for Nvidia drivers to uninstall? Should I navigate to the registry paths in which DS detects Nvidia drivers, and delete them manually?

Here are those registry paths. DS just sticks on this screen for ever after I get the error as per pic above.

Argh, the drivers are then the most likely culprit... Try going into device manager and uninstalling your graphics card there (first uninstall all nvidia software via the control panel by "uninstall programs"). Funky things may happen though, but worst case scenario a reboot will get you back in with like 1024x768 res and then you can install the proper drivers. Bit risky, and I've never done this before myself, fair warning ;)

Cool. Will do so now. ;)

Btw, here's CCC info.

What's your hourly charge? :D *does virtual R250 EFT* :D

Good ol xp, reload and you will be fine.

In my experience with xp when something goes wrong like this you can spend more time trying to fix it than just reloading fresh or repairing.

You have never uninstalled the vga card? Odd. I was assuming postman had done all the uninstalling nvidia, then remove the hardware type efforts. If you have postman enjoy the fresh reload bud :D.

Perhaps buying a dx 11 to use on windows xp is a sign to change?
