Hi guys

Quick story. My Asoos GTX280 popped. Pink screen of death. RMAing today.

I want to upgrade/get something new. I can spend around R2200.

Sapphire HD6850

or

Asoos GTX460

or

???

Your thoughts please. :)

P.S. I will be playing SC2 and COD:BO.

HD6870, ±R2200 at wootware. Check sig for details.

edit - out of stock right now though

Hi man, yeah I would love to except I want to get it today, so getting it through Frontosa.

So it's basically 6850 vs GTX460 I think.

Heh, I just wanted to ask the exact same question. My XFX 8800GT just died so I'm also in the market for either a GTX460 or an HD6850.

If it's the 460 1gig it'll probably be the better choice. if it's the 768mb version take the 6850. Try look for a 6870 though.

Are the two cards exactly the same price at frontosa? What version of the 460, 768mb or 1gb? In order of best performer it goes 460 768mb, 6850, 460 1gb with average fps @ 46.9, 50.2, 51.3 respectively

Thanks guys... Okay I'm considering the Asus 6870...

I think it might be overkill for my needs though.

With those prices the HD6850 is still the best value for money, a good R5 cheaper per FPS than both the 460 cards. If the 6870 is R2500 it offers the exact same value for money as the 460's on your list

Do not buy a 465 though!!

Thanks so much once again.

I think I will just go for the 6850. Don't need anything better. The 6850 will obviously max out COD:BO and SC2 I'm guessing.

SC2 should run at 59.8 fps (double the requirement for a smooth RTS experience)
COD:BO I dont know for sure, but BF.BC2 runs at 38 with 8xAA, 16xAF and everything else maxed. Is it a DX9, 10 or 11 game? If its not DX11 it'll give a ton more fps, if it is DX11 I would expect no less fps than what BF:BC2 gets

If you're not that much concerned about power consumption, then I would recommend the MSI Hawk GTX 460 1GB above all other GTX460 cards @ R2550 (incl VAT + shipping) from Prophecy Shop.
