Personally to me it feels as though it has been a much longer time since 911 took place but I guess that is just what happens when something gets a lot of media attention.

Still, when remembering the things that happend on that day it is sad to think about those who lost so much on that day. The event changed so much that everyone is affected by it 7 years later (just think of all those international security checks).

Anyways, as the saying goes, everything I needed to know about a peaceful religion I leard on 9/11...

There is a saying;

America gave peace a chance and they got 9/11.

Alot changed that day... that day was just sucky!
I still remember it, I was on the way home from Edgemead on the bus and my EX phoned me to tell me that WW3 has started (yes, she was WAY to dramatic)

Anyways, I went from bus to my taxi and people were like SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got home turned on the TV and I stood there going... OOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't leave the TV for like 6 hours!

Is this line necessary?

Scientists can finally "explain" why the Twin Towers collapsed on September 11 2001, despite the temperature of the fires being well below the 1*500C melting point of the steel girders holding up the buildings.

The discovery that unusual magnetic forces within the girders made them weak at temperatures of about 500C explains away the conspiracy theories that emerged after the disaster.

Sergei Dudarev, of the UK Atomic Energy Agency, found that steel lost its strength above 500C because its molecules underwent a physical transition from one state to another from magnetic fluctuations.

"The steel didn't melt, it just became soft. It is an unusual state and the temperatures in the Twin Towers were high enough to cause it because the thermal insulation was knocked off the girders through the impact with the aircraft," he said.

"Understanding how materials behave means we can find the right 'medicine' to make steel stronger at high temperatures...and if our work can be used for other applications, such as safeguarding tall buildings against disasters, so much the better," he said.

Not one, but 3 buildings imploding and this is the best they can come up with

How do they explain passenger jets flying at 500mph at that altitude or one plane flying right through a steel and concrete structure (nose out). There are so many other anomalies it's not even funny.
Something other than a couple of Arab "terrists" happened on that day and only a blind man would agree with the official report.

I think today should be more about remembering the 2974 who died instead of turning it into a conspiracy theory discussion.

True. Using "unusual magnetic forces within the girders" as the cause of the steel giving in, is just lame. Whoever decided they should print an explanation of why the steel support gave in, should have kept it to themselves. If this article didn't appear, people would have not even thought about it.

Thankfully there have been no successful attacks on U.S soil since then. Pity it has fallen so far back in memories of people who forget it seems that the U.S is in a war. Going back to the ignorance of the nineties just when they are staring to reap the rewards of their efforts will result in a heavy price top pay in the future IMO. :(

Unfortunately I think that the USA is no more ready to meet a terrorist threat today than it was on that day 7 years ago. They have lost a lot of their freedoms, and for what?

They went about this all the wrong way. The war against radical Islam should never have been a military war... it should have been a philosophical and ideological war.

... and I say this as a friend of the USA, not a critic.

The killing hasnt stopped though...

Exactly. We'll have to have a remembrance every day for the innocent men, women and children that get slaughtered by US and coalition forces for a war that was justified by the US government in the same way the Reichstag fire justified the invasion of Poland.

Oh, and who can forget the "weapons of mass destruction" excuse

Yes mere talking always stops bullets.

If only we had him around today

Funny, I would say that only a person with a very weak grip on reality would believe the conspiracy theories about what happened.

However there have been many a thread on this forum trying to bring rationality to the hysterical cries of conspiracy theorists. Look them up if you want, you can even pretend you are part of the debate - but I doubt that they would change your mind if you still believe that tripe despite 7 years to educate yourself.

The truth of the matter though is that terrorism could never have hurt America as deeply as Bush's response has.

The loss of life due to terrorist attacks, while tragic, is relatively very small. America should not have given up so many personal liberties for the illusion of safety.

The Bush administration made a right mess of the whole affair.

The only tripe is the official report.
If after 7 years you choose to ignore scientific facts (not just conspiracy theories) then we'll have to disagree on the events of 9/11.

You are mistaken. There isn't a single scientific fact to backup the conspiracy theories. Not a single one.

The US Government knew this was going to happen before it did.
I do not think that gets nearly enough attention.. ^_~ Worked out well for them, not so much for anyone else though

IMO they let it happen because it opened so many doors for them. They are very clever.
That is just my theory ^_~

Same with the date lol... kinda convenient hey!
Ours is 10111 lol wonder what thats significant for!:p
