7600gs vs 6800gt

Our 6800gt recently popped and the supplier wants to give me a 7600gs.

Suggested replacement: 7600GS 256MB DDR2, PASSIVE cooled.

Should I accept that? From the quick reviews I've seen, I can't help but feel I'm being shafted.

I say stick a huge fan on it Bt hm, it doesn't seem as cool a the classic 6800gt! For soem reason I can't imagine it performs as well.. could be wrong..

My 7600GS klapped the *** out of my 6600GT. Not sure how it will compare to the 6800GT.

Get a X1950XTX, worked for me

The 7600GS is not even a step up on the 6600GT. The 6800GT is a far better performer. Settle for nothing less than a 7600GT

Refuse the 7600GS, accept nothing less than a 7600GT

There's nothing wrong with passive cooling if it comes standard, it's quite and has been tested to work with that card and it means you have a silent card and it will be easy to improve it's cooling.

They are trying to "shaft" you, don't let them do it.

Besides, the GT is about R100 less than the GS if you're buying PCIe

The GS is also a GDDR2 card and not GDDR3 like the GT would be, that in itself == getting shafted. Just because it has a "higher" model number doesnt make it faster.

He's right, the DDR3 alone makes a world of difference. Their stock failed, dont let them screw you over again.
