80 Gigs and still Going strong

This whole argument is stupid, who is Telkom or anyone else to tell users how to use the intrnet. If someone wants 80 gigs, let him have it- thats what the internet was designed for. if someone only uses 3 gig, they should probably consider dial up as it will save them money.

Just because someone cant fathom how so much can be used in a month doesnt mean otherswith legitimate reasons for doing so shouildnt be allowed to.

Prices are inflated (by up to 1000%) because Telkom is a monopoly, and because they are trying to protect their diginet and other products. The internet should be ours to do with what we like and at the prices we are paying we should settle for no less. The fact that some people out there believe what Telkom is telling them in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary is just a sign of how long and hard Telkom has been riding the public.

hi all.

i have a telkomisp account. Im still uncapped and international torrents are styling. Current usage: 99.66Gb.

Eat that.

The main problem is that Telkom earns billions of rands each year, yet all of this profit, goes directly into the pockets of shareholders and Directors as retrenchments, and none of it goes into the upgrading of the Saix network.

ATM, saix is in a disaray, their network is so old and deshreveled, its no wondor we have problems with Telkom everyday.

All i can say is keep burning those gigs, the more u use the better, and more of a case can be given that TelkomInternet is abusing its market position over smaller ISP's which have to hardcap.

I'm thinking maybe TelkomInternet are leaving the 'floodgates' open this 1st month to gather user profiling data ... the purpose of which is to create an 'abuser watchlist'. We'll see in the next few months.

All Hellkom is gonna do is make an example of these "ABUSERS" and tell us how their capping and what have you is justified because of the minority of high bandiwidth users. Simple as that.

So far about 25gb on my telkom account. ;)

Based on the above, you have exceeded your monthly 3.00GB volume cap on the combined total and will therefore be redirected to a throttled international service. Your usage will be reset on the 1st of next month. Should you wish to purchase an additional TelkomInternet account to overcome this, please contact 0800-500-200 for more information.

I got this email today, notice what it says in bold. You have to purchase the extra GB, so they cant just give them to you and bill you.
So far im on 8GB and im not stopping.:D

Minority they aint.... I bet u over half of all the dsl users in this country would use more than 3gb if they could.

Sho, these telkom defenders live in their own little world lol.

Wow, this looks like a lose-lose situation.

People go ape and get 80gigs - Telkom says: "See? We be a little leniant, and people 'abuse' this etc etc etc blah blah blah lies"

People actually don't use much cap (ie stay under or slightly over 3GB) and Telkom says: "See? people don't need more than 3GB a month etc etc etc blah blah blah lies"

lucky us, i see a bright future ahead of us, or is that nuclear warfare? hmmm.

LOL q-man good one .

Ive been hardcapped on my mweb account today and i only used it for game and my parents for work at night and when it got capped mweb phones and asks if i wanne buy more gigs even tho ive got 2 IS accounts :P

Billed

Kinda get the feeling that at the end of the month you guys are gonna get a bill for your extra usage, and knowing Telkom they will probably take the stance of "you used it, you better damn pay for it!". Wouldn't put it passed them to start blacklisting people either when they don't pay. I mean, could we really expect anything less?

Ok Beat the Bean i dunno if ure just having a sulk because you stopped your Telkom ISP account, and now, no-one is getting capped.

Just be happy that for once were getting something for the amount of money we pay.

You migght think 3Gigs enough, like some guy will think a corsa will be fine. You will still get the odd few who go and buy a ferrari though.

And calling us Scum, so because we use internet how Telkom says it should by the way, we are now low lifes. Suppose you feel high on your 3Gig pedestal there, mwahaha look at all the abusers, what low lifes. Your just another one of the South African Consumers that bends over for these monopolies and passes Telkom the anal Lube.

If we never go against and just accept it, in 2030, we going to be excited because we now have 2Mb internet, oh and they made the cap 1Gig, but hey who uses more than 1Gig, meanwhile overseas, 10gigabit connections will be the norm, and they will still be uncapped.

But hey why not all just give in, i mean telkom is always right, oh and so is the all high beatthebean, bow down and give them the anal lube.

I have to ask this - 80gb of what exactly ?

If your just downloading for the sake of it, your a bloody idiot.

If, on the other hand, your a huge linux fan, a massive movie geek or watch streaming video and listen to streaming video 24/7, fair enough.

Forget the whole moral BS issues around this, it comes down to common sense and intellect.

If you are downloading anything and everything just to trade and get "kudos", I hope they bill your ass for that 80gb of data. You know, the DC+/Limewire "l33t" tossers who trade warez without giving a sh#t about what the data contains.

That is just GREEDY and STUPID.

Obviously we give you the benefit of the doubt here and you are obviously a fanatic about movies/music/linux/pr0n - you actually have USED that 80gb of data you've downloaded.

This, folks, is the real issue at hand here.

If you can justify your usage of 80gb over 20 days, fair enough and good on you.

But where do u suppose most ppl at the lan get their stuff to share ? :D

ahhh u see but if people get most of their stuff from lans then those potental "abusers" (Don't get me wrong 3 gigs is nothing) that would have downloaded their stuff off the net got it off a lan will never materialise and just a few would use up the bandwidth.
