Anyone have any figures for this - I know that the XFX cards are available from monday - for R3k - seems a bit steeper than anticipated

These are most likely imported atm, I wonder what all the local supliers will come up with... Probably can't beat R2450 for an OC Inno3D card. :D

thanks guys - btw buycomputers say they can get the XFX 8800GT from monday. R3K.

There has been a very limited release of these cards so far. they are basically OUT OF STOCK already everywhere, and some places don't even have their initial stock yet. GIve it a few weeks and hopefully prices will settle down a bit

I bet if you can hord a couple you can sell them for a nice price during the Xmas rush. :p

So many new cards coming out so im definately holding out a bit! Have read on vr-zone that the new HD 3870 is supoposed to sell for 199$!!! That will put soem serious pressure on Nvidia.

Doesnt mean to say it will be better :p

PS. and you'd think with all these posts around about 8800GT's, people would look around before posting and asking about prices :(

is that 3870 their top model? or a slower model?

ati are very rarely cheaper than nvidia

they think being expensive means class, we know they just ripping ppl off :)

And ATI/AMD have recently started being, imo, significantly cheaper than Nvidia because they know it's the only way they will win on price/performance.

How is having your top card sell for $199 expensive?

There are even rumours that the price might drop further if ATI has to, to cash in on christmas.

Nevr said it would be but until we see some proper benchmarks no one can for sure say which will be best value for money. And the 3870 is the "top end" out of the 38xx cards ATM.

I also don't see how ATI have been so expensive? 199$(if thats the case) should be incredibly competitive.

If its their best card to offer then yeah, would very well be something to look forward to

Now another concern on my part is, not too long ago they released the 2900XT yet still it could not beat either the GTX or Ultra. Maybe the same might happen that their best card cant beat nvidia's best, maybe not. Dont know if I can wait till its released before I buy the GT :p

it could not even beat the gts in some tests as well

ati's top card could not beat nvidia mid range in some tests, sad

no the 8600's are low range, how nvidia could release those cards saying they good for dx 10 is total BS

Ja who knows? But i think i can wait a little bit...even if that just means better aftermarket cooling on the GT. So another 3 weeks of waiting. AAAaaaggghhh...!

they should range around R1700 from wholesalers, yet to see one list them on their pricelists...

LOL people are trying to flog their GTS 640 already for 2800..

I feel oh so sorry for them!
