Hi guys,just wondering if anyone else is getting this.

Got a 4mbit line,IS as my isp,normaly when grabbing files from IS news server using grabit,and its cached,maxxes out the line at round 440kbytes a sec.

But today a different story...currently downloading using grabit from Is news server @ 934kbytes a sec! it drops to 680kbytes then straight back up again!!

Just wondering,if telkom arent doing some testing/trials for 8mbit.Im in the bellville area.
 
are you on the 24/7 uncapped?

I didn't notice anything last night on my uncapped express.

But yes... there are rumours that Telkom is trialing and getting ready to bump us up to 8 mbps.
 
Im on uncapped business package with IS,cant connect to actual router now.Cause got pfsense in the middle.But it def running at double the speed.lowest speed its dipped to so far on grabbing form IS is +- 620kbytes a sec.but maxxes out at +- 950kbytes a sec.
 
Would be nice to get a speed upgrade sometime soon. rly would be.
 
There has been so much talk of it recently, and iv had a run in with a few techs who have said its very close to being launched. A date would be nice though

Not that I know of. I have realised when downloading from big sites or via torrent, that I get speeds up to 650-790kb a sec. Now where i read the thread, I checked my modem settings.

Edit. even though my upload shows 80000, max I get when uploading is 59-63kb. Weird.. But i'm not complaining :D

i know we should try be all positive and stuff but i wouldn't hold my breath.
remember back when the slowest ADSL was 128kbit, the middle one was 384kbit... and 4 meg right at the top nê?
then last year sometime there was an upgrade. the slowet was now 384 and the 'faster' became 512kbit. those of us already on 384 didn't get bumped up to five-twelwe.

LOL wut...

It was never like that, nothing you said was true.

It was 256, 384 and 512
Then it was 384, 512 and 1024
then 1024 became up to 4mb

Hopefully it will become

1mb, 4mb and 8mb
 
it was 192 not 256... we never had 256 lines :/
 
lolwut is right - the past is (obviously) a faded memory, the future a hope, only the present matters...

And right now my international speeds are less than half of what I'd hope to get on my "4mb" lie, err line.
