8mbps... ?

am i the only person, or is there others of u also, that every time u wait for mybroadband.co.za to load still have a slight bit of hope that the main story would be '8mbps adsl is here!!' ?

i must say as the weeks go by my hope for this decreases, although i'm sure hsdpa being at 3.6 and 7.2 now must have telkom sortof trying to get 8mbps?

I would rather they increase the cap than the speed.

Also, unshape it, dammit, that is why we get such crap speeds.

Hmm. It makes me so sad when ppl from UK with Virgin Media have uncapped. The saddest thing the Nederlands They have uncapped obviously but they recomend their 4mbs line for school projects their 8mbs for home use their 16mbs line for Faster speeds/power user and their 24mbs for bussiness. And these prices are sooooooo cheap. Christ Telkom must ****ing wake up!

Christ a 14mbs line for schools projects. They really slapping me in the face and that kinda ludacris!

whats the point of 8meg adsl if they are not willing to shorten the loop with optics ect ect.

there are people on myadsl who claim to be within 2km - with 384 adsl - who can't even get a proper stable service....even sync down to 192!!!

i'm sorry - they can rather spend money on replacing infrastructure.

i've had a stable 4096 sync for 3 months - lightning did it's thing - and now i can't even get a stable 2048 ...... telkom's reply: sorry sir...your line is 40 years old - no plans to replace it.

Heard the same from my side - but the speed tests on the lines, I don't like that much, yet....

We demoed 8Mb/s ADSL to Telkom in 2000 already. Ditto for 4Mb/s SDSL.
Telkom is just want to rake in as much money as possible, without investing in their network. The 2000 trail was canceled by Telkom. Companies that tendered lost a lot of money, as they had to import all the equipment for the tender process, and then was told sorry, we are not doing that after all.
