To whom this may concern/be applicable to

I have signed up for the 10gb internet 5 promo over a month ago.
I bought a 8ta 3g modem in store.

After waiting 2 weeks to received my sim card and I had to wait another 2 days for my sim to be activated.
To my disappointment I was able to connect but every time I opened a webpage got redirected to the "Airtime Depleted/ Spend Limit Reached/ Credit Limit Reached" page.
I contacted the customer service and kept being redirected from department to department and it seemed to me that no one there was skilled enough to assist me with my problem.
After about 2 weeks of being in contact with the customer service in which I was being told a number of things which include; the sim is not registered in my name, it's a prepaid sim, the sim is rica'd and it should not be rica'd.
I was finally told that I need to go to a store and buy another sim so that they can connect my data bundle to that sim.

To this day I still cannot use my 8ta 3G.

I posed the question " will my sign up fee of R200 be refunded to me if I have to buy a sim out of my pocket again?" to which she could not answer me. If I do this i expect that this money will be refunded to me without question.
I will buy another sim and if this problem still doesn't get resolved within the next month I will cancel this service and want a refund on all the money I've spent on a modem etc.

I also seen the thread of the 10gb promo not working on MTN supported 8ta coverage but on there website it show's that my area has full 3G coverage. It does not mention anything or give a option to show only MTN supported 8ta coverage on the map. If this is the case, it is false advertising and everyone having been misled by this that signed up for this service should sue 8ta.

Poor service from 8ta!

I'm also having a problem with this **** network!

I phoned in to get my SIM to be able to use the 3gig promo. Checked after the call, and it was there.
I NEED internet NOW. So I went to the shop, bought a R100 and a R50 voucher and loaded them immediately in-store. The R100 loaded, but the R50 was not loaded.

I phoned customer service, and waited 10min just to get disconnected. tried again and got through. Now I have to wait 72 hours. I paid for my airtime. They did not have to wait for my money!!!

I NEED MY INTERNET NOW! If I knew they would screw me like this, then I would've used one of the other networks. They might be more expensive, but they actually do have service!!! And I never had a problem in more than 10 years that I am using cellphones that I did not get my airtime THAT I PAID FOR!

Well done 8ta! You have lost a customer and I will make sure to tell my friends that if they want a reliable network, that they should NEVER trust 8ta for that!

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm sure we are not the only ones experiencing sucky service. Oh and I did mail that address last week so I wonder how long it will be before I get a response.

lol, had R100 stolen from me (in a store with 2 employees and myself, nobody else) when I went to buy a sim to test.

besides only getting edge in the area that has me thinking twice about cellc...

Now I realize that some people are having more problems than I.

I signed a 10gig contract on September 14 and was given assurances that the sim card would be activated after 24 hours. At most it would take 48 hours. On September 16 I called 081183, was answered by a machine and kept on the line for 20 minutes until my prepaid phone balance was depleted. Couldn't speak to anyone. I went back the store and the employee made a call in my presence. S/he was told that my case had not been received by the office s/he was calling and was asked to re-fax all my application documents. This time the promisse was that I would be connected over the week-end and I would get a call to that effect.

Since the call never came, I checked with another 8ta store on Sunday, to be told that I had applied with a store with no authority to process applications. Today I went to the first store again. The employee called the main office once more and, surprise, s/he was asked to re-fax my documents! Again! I immediately asked for a cancellation of the application! Now I'm planning to re-apply with the one I contacted on Sunday, because the first one has been unable to fax my documents, after three attempts.

I hope I will not have to wait for 2 months, as was the case with some people complaining over here...

I reapplied on 20 September 2011. To this date, nobody from 8ta has contacted me, although the initial promise was that I would be activated in 5 minutes. I don't know what to say...
