Ok this happened last night
This is the first time i notice something like this though
just want to check if this has happened to anyone else

last night at about 7pm I check my balance online
1,4gb and 2,7gb night data
so I download a 700mb "document"
check balance again afterwards at about 9pm and its
+-250mb and 2,7gb night data

strange I think, but maybe it was my browsing or some or other update runing in the background
all windows updates are turned off though so are most other programs...

at about 10:55pm I check my balance again still the same as last time
start downloading another "doc" of 2,4 gb's and start just after 11pm

this morning at 6:30 I check and it took just over 2 hours to download and the balance is now
75mb and 300mb Night time

My question is how did I use my anytime data which was about 250mb at 10:55 and no at 75mb - during the period where my night time data was supposed to be used

it got me thinking something is not right as there is unaccounted data that also went missing earlier that evening....

I dont have anything to back up my claims though
but im going to use a stand alone data counter (any ideas for what to use?)
Is there one that can monitor traffic going through my router?

Hi rodga!

We cannot as a company recommend a data counter or any software for you, but are you downloading "documents" from a http website/ftp client/torrent client?

im using a news server

Its the first time I am noticing this though so it might be something on my side
hence I would like another application to monitor my traffic etc and then see what happens next month

also confused with the anytime data being used after 11pm

Hi rodga!

We searched on the internet for a reason why your usage may be higher on a news server and this is what it says:

Why doesn't the size of the files I downloaded match my usage stats?
Please remember that binary attachements are uuencoded by the posting software, which converts the binary data to text for transfer over the internet. This can add as much as 40% to the size of the file. Your news reader uudecodes the attachment after it is downloaded, before it is saved to your harddrive.

Anytime data switches over automatically to night surfer data at 23h00 if there is sufficient bundle available on the night surfer bundle.

ok but file size has been pretty spot on before
will be keeping an eye on these things in the future though

ive never experienced this 40% when doing backups myself. OP you should check your apps running. my firewall is anal about internet access so i get asked about every program that requests access. can be a a bit of a pain but i feel i have better control that way...

Counters maintained by modem are accurate. MDMA use this counters and will keep you sane.
Also comment from 8ta about encoding binary files by News servers applies.
