I have had an 8ta 10Gb contract since Dec2011 - I have had amazing speed and service from them until last week, suddenly I started getting no internet connection - then after disconnecting and connecting again it would work for about an hour or so and then happen again - can someone help - I have reported the problem but haven't gotten a response from them yet.

I've got a similar problem - it was working great until about 3 weeks ago, now it connects via 3G, but the internet isn't accessible at all.. also had no response from 8ta, good luck.. :|

Welkom in my wereld

8ta is Telkom.Good luck in trying to sort it out.
I've been complaining for more than 2 years even went to icasa....SEVERAL TIMES.still not working
poor service galore
never trust Telkom

I had the same issue, it started a few weeks ago, when they appeared to do some maintenance or that was the word from the call centre (081180) I went into the 8ta shop to ask them when this error on contract users will be fixed, they were sort of unaware of the problem people were having, and advised to call 081183 instead, the first time I called i got no answer the second time a technical person answered and assisted me. It seems the *ta software that is on the wireless device sometimes fckes out and then your connection does not work. He got me to create a new connection through Windows and now it works perfectly. Go to Control panel, Network and Internet - Network and sharing centre - then click on Set up new connection or network, I used the Dial up one, Just enter the number *99# Rename the connection to your preference, and click connect. it will connect and maybe disconnect, click on add the connection anyway. Then go back to your adapter settings and the new connection will be there, Double click it and click to connect. You will have internet. launch the 8ta software after the connection and it will show your connection like normal.

That worked for me and it is always on, remember to change the idle time settings if you want to keep the connection always on.

I find that hard to believe. My modem connects via a 3G router, so it doesn't use Windows DUN. It was pretty fast the first four months, now I don't even get 256Kbps

The same thing is happening to me. Connected but no service. Also started about 3 months ago and usually starts giving problems after 4pm

infrastructure is completely clogged.not enough bandwith availeble to supply service to everyone.
does any one know what kind of bandwith a single cellular tower can handle?and how many connections it can service at the current max speed of devices?(my vodacom 3g modem is rated at 21Mb/s)
