I have done that on a K4605.
You should be fine but you will not be able to use the Vodafone dashboard - use MDMA instead !

MDMA is an informative, light weight "dashboard" application, very helpfull when you find you have problems that need debuggig, or even for normal every day use. A very good alternative to the default dashboards supplied with your modem.

What if it connects through a 3g router ? (8ta sim in k4505 stick) on router?
I'm using a Vodafone k4505z in a tp link router with an 8ta sim.

Ok, but does one have to unlock anything to make it work? Or only if it3g stick connects directly to pc
i dont remeber if mine works without unlocking

The modems aren't locked - it used to be just the Vodacom software that wouldn't let you connect to other networks.....you can fix that by following http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...her-networks?p=7845885&viewfull=1#post7845885 OR use MDMA or even easier stick to buying a Huawei modem & put the Huawei dash on it.
If your just going to be using it on 1 PC then the ZTE dash will work for you.
Trouble is if you use on differant PC's you then need to have that ZTE dash available to install to use.
The Huawei modems are easier to just install a generic dash on the modem itself & therefore you always have it as its on the modem.
There is ways to do that with ZTE modems as well but its more complex.

Ok cool. The idea is just to plug it into a 3g router. So, in other words... 8ta sim into that Vodacom usb modem, which plugs into the 3g router (netgear )...
For router dashboard is irrelevant, as it pops out only on PC or MAC. Just check modem compatibility with your router. Also read this thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/273744-Routers-to-use-with-3G-HSPA-Modems
