Hi guys,

My modem was stolen yesterday :(

So I am shopping around for a new one. I currently have the Cell C 20GB GigaNite as well as 8ta data sim (I just load the prepaid data promo's now and then on it). I walked into an 8ta store where they had a 3G Modem (I don't know what its model number is, But I do know it was a D-Link 3G Modem supporting up to 21Mbps). This modem was attached with Telkom Mobile's 2.4GB prepaid starter pack. The set costs R399.

My Question is, does this modem (D-Link) support Cell C's 3G/HSPA Network? I tried asking the guy in store, he didn't know, he just told me the modem is not network locked. Didn't buy it then because I forgot my ID and proof of residence :(

Thanks.

vodacom has one for R99 , the internet starter pack , just make sure you get the k3772-z one. ( i bought 3 so far all was k3772-z)

through it is just 7.2mbs

Wow, I had no idea K3772-z's were included in the R99 starter packs! I had that modem before it was stolen and it didn't work on my USB 3.0/2.0 ports, only on eSATA :(

:wtf: the modem worked on your eSATA port?

Haha, I am glad this was the case for me, otherwise I would have destroyed the modem out of anger :)
I remember somebody started laughing at you. :)

It is indeed USB/eSATA combo and power on this port is expected to be stronger to satisfy requirements of external 2.5 inch hard drives.
