Hi everyone my friend just received his 8ta sim but his having errors using his cellc usb stick its the 21mbps stick

He has got coverage as we tested my sim at his place

I also gave him the standard huawei mobile connect software to replace his cellc user interface

Has anyone successfully loaded 8ta with a cellc stick ?

Not 8ta, but I just tried my MTN sim in the Cell C 'stick' and works fine. Although I connected via normal pppoe and not via the Cell C user interface.

Hi guys, I'm the friend in question :p

@ Dan C - so how did you get your MTN sim to work? The underlying question is; how to get a non-Cell C SIM to function with this Cell C branded Huawei E1820? We've established that the Cell C software needs to be uninstalled and the Mobile Partner software used instead, but even so, the 8ta card would not pick up. I am asked for APN login details, which according to the folks at Cell C shouldnt happen (I called them to ask if the dongle is network locked of which they quickly said they are not allowed to do that by law).

As far as coverage is concerned; I am definitely covered. Not only was the 8ta signal tested right here at my house with Viking's own dongle, but I also got a a 7 mbps connection at that point that we tested it, and played a lag free international match of Modern Warfare 2 via Steam, so it definitely works here at my house.

have done it with an MTN stick, just downloaded the 8ta dash from their website. What error is he getting? Also if he wants to try the 8ta HSPA+ network he'll need to get the sim unlocked.

I have used VC with the Cell C Software, you do not need to uninstall the software. 8ta should also work.

Ok awesome man I didn't know about this; I've downloaded the 8ta dash as well as the flash download for the E1820 from here and will give it a bash.

OK, just tested it - using 8ta sim with Cell C Dashboard and Cell C E1820 with Cell C Profile - and works just fine !

Yip no need to change dashboard any sim works just fine in cellc modem with supplied dashboard.
You just have to change profiles or edit apn's.
Its not like the nasty VC dashboard.

So it seems like there's something clashing on my actual PC. I've tried all possible combinations; with and without Cell C software, with and without 8ta software, with and without Mobile Partner (generic Huawei) software.. the service refuses to connect.

Yet, the dongle itself worked perfectly at 8ta in Canal Walk, with the 8ta SIM card in it. They plugged it in and it connected automatically, so its not the dongle.

I tried removing all the Cell C registeries on my PC, that doesnt solve the issue. I tried mimicking as far as possible all the settings from the Cell C settings and applied it to the 8ta SIM... still nothing. Yet in every scenario, I can simply insert the Cell C SIM and it connects automatically, no matter what I removed or changed.

The issue that's bugging me the most is that when the 8ta card is in; it picks up the Mobile Broadband Connection as "UnNamed", and should I attempt to connect it asks for APN settings (domain name, username and password). Now this same function with the Cell C stick automatically picks up the Cell C network and links in - but again - its not the SIM coz it worked at 8ta, its something on my PC.

Does anyone have the slightest idea of what the heck could be missing?!? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and I've already tried turning down my Windows security settings to a minimum, and disabling my anti-virus software...

Vecta, please email your contact number, 8ta number a description of your problem to [email protected]. We will then get a technical agent to give you a call. Thank you

Wow thanks so much, I dont know the 8ta number off-hand so when I get my hands on the documents at home I'll send an e-mail through.

Thanks!

Dude, I had a similar problem with my e220. When I plugged the modem in, it autoran, and started the vodafone dashboard. Exiting the program disabled the modem. To test this leave the modem plugged in when you start your pc, then connect with 8ta dashboard. Might be as simple as disabling an autorun function to get you up to speed.

I notice that Cell C works perfectly on the 8ta dash but obviously not vice-versa.All you have to do is swap the sim in the Cell C modem.I'd like to change the APN settings on the Cell C dash to see if it would pick up the 8ta network. This is so I don't have to download the 8ta dash for another pc,which has the Cell C dash and software already installed.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Ive got my 8ta username and password -what do I put under:
settings -options-profile management-access number.
thanks

BTW. i'm using an 8ta sim in my vodacom/vodafone E172 dongle.

Vodafone mobile connect did not work (says something about incorrect sim...), but I've used the connection software called "MDMA" which worked right away. Download the 45kB software here (http://www.nerve.org.za/mdma/).

I'll try the 8ta dashboard next, just because MDMA isn't as user friendly.

Yeah. I'm using an 8ta sim in an MTN branded modem, and using it with MDMA.
So it's possible.

Very unlikely, I have read a little bit about 8ta's performance and apparently it can be at either extreme of speed...

My computer is running on windows 7 ultimate 64 bits which i recently uploaded on my computer, but i have been experiencing trouble with the internet speed as it is granny slow, please advise if it is possible that this is due to using a 64 bit system instead of a 32 bit system
Hi
Please email your 8ta number, contact details and physical address to [email protected].
Please also mention MyBroadband and your alias in the subject line.
Thank you

Hi guys,

I have a Huawei E1752 Cell C modem and I was wondering what I need to do to it in order to get it to work on 8ta's network? do I need to flash it or will it just work with Cell C's dashboard.

I haven't signed up just yet with 8ta - but hoping to get the 60/60 deal this week

should work with the cell c dash.

Login details for 8ta

I have been successfully using an 8ta sim in a cell c speed stick but having trouble connecting when I plug it into my Billion Bipac 6200nxl wireless-n 3G router. In the wan port settings of the router, I enter the APN settings: tel no: *99#, APN: internet but what do I enter for username and password? The router wants to use admin and admin by default and won't allow me to save it as blank and hence will not connect. I also selected chap authentication, checked "keep alive" And checked "obtain DNA automatically" but it will still not connect. Please help!
