hi guys

sorry about all the Q's

I would like to get the new R666/5GB special from 8ta. Only problem is that I dont have a 8ta 3G modem and the special doesnt come with one from 8ta.

I have one of these lying around, wondering if it will work with the 8ta sim card?

Please help :o

5GB special? Why don't I kno about it?

Yes, you can use a Vodacom/Vodafone modem with an 8ta sim card, but you can't use the proprietary software for another operator, so what you need do is hinder it from startup, go over to www.nerve.org.za download MDMA, internet APN and *99# dialing number. Or perhaps go to www.8ta.com download their dashboard.

well I guess its not a special as such. It just reduced pricing from 8ta from what I know...

sheesh looks complicated :o

It should since all modems imported officially to south africa must be unlocked i.e. Open to all networks. The software however might be inappropriate and therefore, the recommendation of mdma should suffice :)

Yes the E272 does UTMS2100 which is what 8ta runs on - it'll work.
Only reason it might not be able to connect is if it has vodacom software on it, which if it has you can overwrite it
