8ta was a mistake: analyst

Johan de Kock compares 8ta's to CellC in being late to the party but Telkom has the biggest network in the country, which Vodacom CellC and MTN as well as Neotel utilise . If they manage it well 8ta will make money , innovation is needed but we will see what happens .

Did Telkom create 8ta to compete as a mobile operator (head to head with the Duopoly) or do they have another reason?

Too late? My ass. They control all the backhaul.
There are millions of mobile voice users in the country and not that large a data market. Most data users use it just for social media and there are no volumes there. They will need to win over some of the millions of voice users over at MTN & Vodacom to make money.

“Telkom is facing structural threats posed by the mobile guys and it is faced with intense competition from Neotel,” said Giyose
:D

I think this Metropolitan oke needs to go and look at a few realities....

Yes 8ta was late, but their parent company has the biggest network in the country...

Not a chance! 8ta is brilliant! 2gb of data for R149 compared to VC's R349. Biased article... Cell C and 8ta are the best mobile broadband providers, and they add much needed competition into the market..

Too late? Maybe, they should've come in earlier to slash data prices earlier...

Too little? Oh please... No one else is as cheap as them, and their connection is quick and stable

Stable? - I beg to differ, this speed fluctuation is pissing me off now.
I cannot upload a 15MB video to either youtube and facebook.

Fix this shti 8ta!!!

+1

I honestly don't know what is stopping 8ta from becoming nr 1 in the country. Maybe that old Telkom bureaucratic management style so entrenched in the company? Or is the government still interfering like crazy?

8ta CAN fly, they just need wings. And a Red Bull.
