I have one which is in pretty good nick. Might need a clutch in a few months.
Do you guys have a price range I can sell it for? Was looking at about R 30 000 amybe even R 29 000?

JK8 you're the VW fanboy, do you think it's a good price?

I'll upload pictures quick.

Too much.
I bought a '92 city golf for R15k earlier this year, not a single spot on the body, also red.

8 valve or not...the poor bloody thing is 17 years old, has probably had the daylights driven out of it...it needs a clutch...whilst that is out, rebuild the motor as it has definitely passed its sell by date....then at that mileage we are also looking at shocks and driveshafts...

Yes, some idiot is going to give you between 25 and 29 for it...take the money and run!!:D

:D

It was driven as a GTi, I'll be honest :p But the Clutch is still the original so 264000 on a clutch is not bad. The engine is 100% Not even a valve seal issue. No smoke, no leaks. Same with the body and drive shafts.

But it will need a clutch that is for sure....

No my point is...as I was trying to explain to someone on the 316i thread...even if she has been well maintained, that motor is getting to the point where major surgery is necessary...these things don't have an infinite lifespan...and if it's been "driven like a GTi"...bullet proof or not...at the moment...all hell is going to let loose inside that block sooner rather than later. Well done on making your clutch last that long....open that puppy up and you will probably find a pile of dust!! :D

ONCE Again...that mileage...that age....the poor thing is going to need plenty of money spent on it, and unless you are looking at doing everything yourself, whoever buys it is standing over a fairly large pit with respect to his bank account...:p

Thanx JK8.

I was hoping for around R 30k so maybe put it up for R 32k willing to go down to R 30k because of the Clutch?

sorry, missed the GTI bit.
Those 1800 motors are rock solid. My brothers 1800 Golf3 has done over 500 000km and is still going strong.

R30k is still a bit high.
2003 Golf 1.9TDi - R35k
2000 Golf4 1.9 TDi - R38.5k
You'll have to find someone that's interested in golf, looking for that specific model.

Still a buyers market :D
