well it wouldn't happen on the "proper" brands.. as they let the turbo run after being shut off so it still has an oil feed so it doesnt burn out...

so yes it was VW's fault for not doing this.

If my dog bitch bears a cat litter, it's also VW's fault.:erm::D

So if there were the same number of Volvo trubos on the road as 1.9TDI, they're have the same failure rate ... ?

Why have VW actually agreed to replace the turbo? Why did they pull the car from showrooms? They actually acknowledged a problem with the turbo itself.

http://jv.news24.com//City_Press/Motoring/0,,186-2051_2267568,00.html

False!!! They stopped the 2 door TDi, one month later they sold the same 1.9TDi Sportline but in 4 door!!!
In 09 they acknowledged the turbo problem, yes alot of people had problems, all it took was new software, I havent heard of anyone with the new turbo/SW complaining yet?

You VW folk include the 1.6 Velociti as a performance model ... and I have a feeling that Yaris is quicker or marginally slower!

Never forget that the Yaris is...whether marginally quicker or marginally slower, is more than marginally almost double the price!! :D

You raced a 90kw 1.8 Citi with your 141kw RunX yet?

I raced my brothers Life 1.6i ... redone crank & pistons to a 1.8i ... 276 degree cam and full branches/exhaust (50mm-57mm progressive exhaust) pushing 69.6kw at Snails dyno - roughly 90kw on the wheels. So, yes I have.

Jumps me on pull off (my bonnet to his back door) and pull him all the way to pass him relativly quickly at 100-120km/h ... at which point it's all over. RSI runs away.

When he was stock 1.6 Life, there wasn't umch of a contest. At about 100km/h there were 3 car lengths between us (15 metres) and 140km/h I couldn't see him.

Yes, he's on the VW forum and posted race tales. He's the one with a Gtech, so there are probably full graphs comparing both vehicles (and many others)

I don't (and never did) rate the Citis as a modern car. I'm talking about what's been released lately. What has Toyota come up with?

If you're talking currently, they don't make a 1.8R either ....

Sub-9 seconds (IMO).

... which means you'll have to exclude every Citi available ;)

Now if you're talking recent years, we can include the 1.8R as it's sub-9 seconds (coastal only though ...) - but then include the 1.8 RSI which is sub-9 both coastal and reef.

Take your pick ;)

So your 141kw got beat 0 - 100 by a 1.6 VW?:p
