@Waylander, great review and thanks for putting this up.
You mention that CISP closes at 5pm? I think their support is 8am to 8pm during the week.
I work with many of the networks so can't comment publicly on my findings, but extended support hours in the evening are a feature I look at in choosing

Are you in CT Southern Burbs by any chance?Very nice review.
I have an order with cisp, just waiting on frogfoot to finish the build. Apparently we are the first zone for 2018 , so hopefully soonish.
How much do you pay a month for 200mb? Is it uncapped?
R1500 on vumatel and octotel. It is uncapped.
Hey all,
I'll be chopping this review up into a few sections, and will be following up with any tests you'd like me to conduct. Please post them as a reply to this thread.
(1) Ordering the Vumatel line
I ordered the line on Monday, 18th December 2017 and got confirmation of install that Wednesday, 20th December 2017. The Vumatel guys were quite late, but they had a valid reason and worked extremely hard to get my line connected as quickly as possible, overall a good experience. My VT number was assigned an hour later, and the FX light was solid. Kudos to Richard and Styles from the Vumatel installation team.
(2) Ordering service via Cool Ideas
I called their support number to ask them what the best route to go is, and what information I needed to provide before signing up. This is the point where I realized how much @PBCool cares about putting quality people on the front lines of his company. Cool Ideas is one of the few ISPs out there that either train their staff extremely well, or has a very vigorously-thorough recruitment process. I'll be mentioning this a lot during this review, because of how much it impacted my decision to sign up with them. I was informed of all the details I'd need to provide, where I'd need to submit it and what the timeline would look like. I decided on signing up right then and there by wiring my laptop to the CPE, visiting shop.vumatel.co.za and selecting the package I wanted.
I took this time to get a look at the other providers there, comparing pricing and value-adds. The other providers that I had considered were Crystal Web, and Vox (being existing customers of theirs on Openserve fibre), but after asking similar questions to their support staff, I decided I'd spare myself the pain of dealing with them.
Signing up with Cool Ideas was a simple process, via Vumatel's shop I selected the service and filled my details, after which I was asked to fill in an activation form on CISP's website. I called in and asked how I would do this, if I didn't have a working connection yet (just to see what they would say) and I was told I am welcome to come inside and activate it there. I completed the form via my phone's cellular connection. I then drove to @PBCool's offices to collect my router, had to sign a collection form and off I was.
At home, I connected my router but remembered that it wouldn't work due to the MAC address being locked to my laptop, I gave CISP another call and they very quickly sorted me out and the internet light on the router lit up. I'd like to again stress on how competent and efficient CISP's staff are. They know exactly what they need to do and how to entertain me on the phone with jokes and small-talk about Half-Life 3 being a bigger conspiracy than Roswell. This was definitely the most calm conversation I've had with a support rep and I didn't mind the 1 minute call at all.
(3) Initial testing
Speedtests were all the usual, full speed without issues. Latency is where I was actually blown away. I did not believe that I could have such low pings to ACTUAL services.

(3) Wanting more
I soon regretted signing up for such a small package, and gave their support another call. I asked what I needed to do to upgrade to 200/200 was, and was told to just go to shop.vumatel.co.za and sign up for another service. The rest would be taken care of and I would be ready to roll within 45 minutes.
That did not happen, after waiting a while, reboot after reboot I was still at the same old speeds, I then called again and the agent quickly gave me a quick run down on what goes on behind the scenes during an upgrade, and he quickly spotted a discrepancy. Two addressed showed up on his system, which I confirmed when looking at my account on the Vumatel portal. He said it was likely an issue with Vumatel and he put me on hold for few minutes while he tried to sort it out. He came back saying it was without doubt an error on Vumatel, and my new activation way delayed due to this. He said he would call Vumatel and fix it. This was 4:30pm.
At exactly 4:59pm, I got a call. Everything was sorted out and I was asked to reboot and give them a call if anything was wonky. Obviously everything was fine, and I thanked the agent for his incredible dedication. Most others would have passed the buck, and went home.

(4) Further testing
Over the past day, I've been "stress testing" my line, and I'll be adding the tests to this thread over the coming weeks.
For now, here is some porn.

Hi,
Would you mind doing a test to UK via Speedtest.net can recommend Vodafone UK and Structured Communications also a 200/200 CI client with Octotel but have issues with upload currently sitting on 162Mbps/6Mbps so yeah..would be curious what you get from your side in JHB. Thanks!
