9780 battery life

Hi guys. I've been watching my battery life on my bb and I seem to think it doesn't last nearly as long as it should. I use my phone fairly often with internet usage, bbm, email etc. My sister with the same phone seems to have better battery life than I do though she doesn't utilize it as much as I do.

Now I know that its obvious that my battery would run down faster coz of my usage but surely not so fast as mine does. Most I got was a day and a half before a flat battery with fairly moderate usage(I was being a tad conservative).

Now my question is if I were to go to vodacom's customer care would they replace my battery as easy as 1,2,3 or would there have to be a legitimate fault in the battery before they replace it? My bb is on contract, its been approximately 1month since I've received it.

I have had a 9780 for a week and so far the battery life is over 2 days. I do not have WiFi or bluetooth switched on, but do use my phone a lot for calls and email. Previous phone was a 8900 that only gave me 1 day with the same usage.

Check that you do not have services on all the time that you do not use e.g. WiFi or Bluetooth, as these will use up the battery power faster.
You could take it in to Vodacom to have them check it out though.

PS Go to the Blackberry App world on your phone and download Battery Watch - it gives you your battery status and also a small real time indicator on the status bar at the top of phone giving you the % charge remaining - great app.
 
I already have installed battery watch and used the app to monitor my battery life. That is how I have somewhat confirmed my suspicions.

I don't have WiFi nor bluetooth active.

So I guess it is worth taking it in and asking for it to be investigated. So far I cannot complain about the battery life I am getting.

Seeing as you use your phone quite often 1 day and a half seems pretty standard to me. I use mine quite a bit and if I don't charge the battery in the evening it doesn't last the next day.
 
After 1.5 weeks with my 9780 I get 2 datys easy.

1. Set backlight to 10% (sounds low, but it actually still bright)
2. Only 2g. Still gets good speeds on downloads ( if u want to get a big file quickly, just turn on 3g)
3. dont leave gps, bluetooth, WIFI on unless u actually need it
