is the 9800 gx2 the only Nvidia card that has an HDMI output?

Galaxy brand has a card (I think a 9600GT) with HDMI. Dunno if you can find Galaxy here in SA...found it once but ever since then people seem to deny them ever shipping to SA :rolleyes:

I did my research before buying a card recently, and I chose the.....8800GTX.

Yeah it was expensive, but from everything I've read online, the 98xx series didn't offer any increase over the 8800 GTX. It's like a die shrunk version with some more PureVideo stuff thrown in, along with some other tweaks.

My monitor is 1920x1200, and therefore I needed the beast to play games at such a high res. [H]ardOcp had some very good tests and results on a wide range of cards. The 8800GTX is by no means dead yet :D

Well if you did your research, you would have gotten a 8800GTS 512mb, since it performs on the same level as the 8800GTX, and costs less...

I played COD 4 and Gears of War this morning on my 9600GT at 1920 x 1200 with all settings on their highest.

I can't complain at all. Will try Crysis over the weekend.

Im thinking these GPUs

8800GTS 512 (Cheap, good performance)
9800GX2 (best performance)
New ATI card (well gotta see, cause then prices will drop or it might be better)

@ MrE, I did do a lot of research, checked benchmarks over and over on Anandtech and [H]ardOcp and others before buying the card. In the end, I guess the extra frames are not really noticeable to a human eye, and my LCD only refreshes at 60Hz anyway, so it's not the end of the world.

@killadoob

The Gx2 performs about 30% faster than a 8800 Ultra, at least with raw clock power. According to [H], most games anyway can't take advantage of the power of the Gx2, and in some cases the card has bad slowdowns which weren't evident on the 8800Gtx for reasons no one could figure out. They theorised it's to do with the narrower bus and less memory available to each card.

Either way, have fun Ancient_Despair, and whatever card you pick, hope it lasts you a long time to come. :)
