Hi, I'm selling my car, and its been advertised for 2 weeks now in a certain publication, dude calls me up, calls himself Trevor, speaks Afrikaans but very badly, says he's from Windhoek. He's in SA for 2 days and works for De Beers, drives abnormal heavy load trucks for them...

He wants to buy my car, as in now! Ok, so you don't want to see the car in the flesh first? No...He says I must come up to Klerksdorp as that's where he'll be and he'l give me R600 when I get there...we then go to the bank, he puts down cash amount deposited into my account. Then we go to the police station and he keeps the papers, the bank slip and a copy of my i.d...but the best part is this...I'm not to go to Klerksdorp with my Alfa, because just now something happens on my way there or back and he'll have to fork out more money for the damages...so I must get to Klerksdorp, but not with the car...So he doesn't want to see the car!...

He will then go back to Windhoek with the work, then fly up to JHB again and come collect the car...the car is for his wife, she needs a small car because she keeps on driving his X5 on small errands!

I told him to hear from his boss if he cannot come to JHB on Sat and I'll meet him at my friends house...he said he'll call me back.

Is this a scam? My gut tells me, I want to sell the car but can't let that fact cloud my judgement...if he calls back I'll tell him to meet me at the police station and tell the cops upfront what's happening...then I'll ask him to make a cash deposit in my accoutn and wait till the money clears the bank...then we can go ahead with the deal...but I doubt it will go this far...

How does this sound to ya'll, or is this Windhoek guy just really an odd one?:D

Can be a scam - I've come to realize a real buyer actually wants to see the product before paying for it... Almost lost a cellphone this way...

Dude. This all sounds seriously dodge.
How can you sell your Alfa in the first place.
Secondly, will the alfa even make it there:p

From an Alfa lover.

The longer the story the bigger the scam.

Why all the extra info? he is setting you up for something.

Its an Alfa 147...

yes this guy was talking for 5mins non stop...my co worker listened in on the call as well...we both shaked our heads at this.

LMAO - I think this is why he said...DON'T come with the car...coz then it will brake and he WILL have to cough up money!!!:D

Very odd indeed.

Sounds like he's trying to get you to scam him.

Its a scam , i`ve had him phone me before ....ask him his exact office no ..and he`ll start to fumble

He phones you as well???

Yep, one minute he's talking about he's at the mines and then he says he's close to klerksdorp!

Let me get this right truck driver? has X5? Hmmm

never knew driving trucks made so much money

If you want to know if it's a scam get your mate to phone him back & act as if he was another client - if he is scaming he is not just scaming one person at a time!

yep . i had my car up for sale a few months back .Got a couple of these retards phone me up .i asked one ouk to meet me in Midrand in peak hour traffic time , sent another to hilbrow and kept him waiting there for 2 hours :)

But this ouk with his truck story ...could`nt find a way to scam him :(

you selling your 147 2.0 sports car? what are you getting? the 147GTA?

Actually yes...or the GTV 3.0, need more powa to drop JK8 by miles!:p

I'd love those 2 cars, but top priority is getting house next year after world cup, and rebuilding my Guilietta...I found that older Alfa's or cars in general have more soul and cost less to repair and only electriacl crap is lights and ignition...

But anyway, yo telling me this truck guy is all over? Joh, I'd better report this then...

oh, for those wanting to see the car, here it is

It's a scam, no one wants to buy an Alfa and he's married....being married and driving an alfa is too much trouble....lol

LMAO...did you hear the Alfa/marriage joke?

A guy walks into a bar, he sees his mate drinking...asks him why he's drinking so much - and then the Bartender chips in and says, he's either married, or he drives an Alfa LMAO!

LOL now we all have you number as it was on the add!

expect some anoying calls from your fans! lol
