A car buying scam!

LOL now we all have you number as it was on the add!

expect some anoying calls from your fans! lol

let's call him late at night and whisper softly "alfa's suck......alfa's suck......alfa's suck......"

Is he, by any chance, a Nigerian :D there you got my answer . . . Use your brain !

lol saame guy wanted to buy my 335i and m3 .... Same story ... What beats me is he says he will pay for the car but not pick it up ... Only later on ...

Ok this does sound like a scam but am I'm confused where the actual scamming part comes in, his scam must involve meeting you and then somehow changing the plan in a convincing manner or trying to rob you at gun point.

Why are you confused? Ok. Just think a bit. What must you give/disclose about yourself to someone who will buy a car from you? Come on, think, is not so hard :D ID number (actually a copy of your ID), residential address, banking details, etc . . . huh . . . This is South Africa 2009 ! If I have all that info, I can take loans in your name (falsify signatures is not a big deal anymore), sort out your bank accounts, even your/my property can be sold for peanuts and you won't know a thing until the new owners what to move in :D By then I am gone. I will have someone alses ID number :D All this can happen in SA because incompetent and corrupt people work in places they do not belong ! Welcome to the NEW South Africa . . .

Let me get this right truck driver? has X5? Hmmm

never knew driving trucks made so much money

If he owned it, he would ;)
Also as I understand it, De Beers pays well, more so when you get out of there with rough diamonds every few months :D

I reckon scam though on this one.

LOL - pls don't call me saying Alfa sucks...anyhoo, heard more story's of this guy form MORE people!!!

Nope, did not give any of my details away, he only has my work cell number, which every one has!

I can't believe that they try crap like this...and it seems rife in Junkmail...I reported one a couple of months ago...

Why do people even bother selling anything worth more than R1,000 in Junkmail or Gumtree? You're just asking to be scammed, IMO.

Guys, Junk Mail have a warning posted on their website about this:

"Scamsters will ask sellers of items to drive great distances to meet them and then call saying that their plans have changed and that they can no longer meet, but will arrange for the funds for the item to be paid into your bank account. Often they claim to be from Botswana, Namibia etc, but here on 'business'. Because of all the effort already gone to, the client often agrees to this. Scamsters may then ask for airtime to be bought for them to call home and arrange for payment. Don't buy airtime for them! Don't arrange to pay money into their account for petrol money to drive to your chosen meeting point. The more complicated the story told by the 'buyer' - regardless of how believable they might seem - don't believe it. Sell your item on your terms!"

BIG BIG SCAM

Hi there.

The exact same story happended to me and my father on the 16th of November. We drove to Klerksdorp form Polokwane. 500km....when we got there, the man didn't have the money with him. He said we must go with him to another man who has the money.

When we got there, they where smugling diamonds and tried to pay us with diamond money.....whether its fake diamond I don't know....

Got in the car as quickly as possible and left back to Polokwane. Luckily we made it out alive.

this is a response to a query on a car advertised on gumtree:
Hello

The car is still available for sale, price as stated in the ad R40,000.It's in perfect working order, no damages, it wasn't involved in any accidents.I moved to the UK with my work but I left the car at a shipping company in Johannesburg. All shipping costs and insurance during transportation are included in the price. You will also receive all necessary documents in order to finalize the purchase.Email me back if you're interested and have further questions

2nd response when i asked to for physical check:

The mileage is 40,300
Look how this works:

1. I will contact eBay and give all the info about this deal.
2. They will send us the forms by email - for you about the payment.
3. I will send the vehicle to your location and you will send the payment at eBay.
4. After you will inspect the vehicle and decide to keep it, they will transfer the money into my account.

RETURN POLICY:
If by any reason the vehicle is not as described, or if you find any problems with it I will pay for the returning fees. I'm sure it won't be the case because the vehicle is in excellent condition.
As soon as the vehicle arrives, you will test it and if it does not match 100% to your expectations, you will return it in max. 10 working days since the arrival date.In this case you will send me the vehicle in the same condition you received it.

The estimated time of delivery is 2 to 5 days, with no scratches, it is professionally crated.

Please provide me with your full name and shipping address so I can register the deal with eBay.
