Hold on I am running out to go and hug my neighbour or the closest tree, I may get shot while doing it, either by my neighbour or by the tree...you never know. What a load of cr@p. I dont see how me being positive will change this country when our leaders are raping this place that in the end there will be nothing left.

Being positive alone won't change this country, but being positive will improve your personal quality of life.

Is right. I don't care if X passes matric, but I have an interest if someone is shot in my neighbourhood.

People always say this, but I'm puzzled by it. How does staying magically "fix" the country? Does being a martyr for South Africa somehow make the government take the situation seriously and put shoulder to the wheel? The 20,000 + murders last year while the government was saying they see no crisis seem to point to something else. The fact that the entire country jumped up and down with happiness when those 11 robbers were shot speaks ship loads over how gatvol people are.

Staying changes nothing. If anything voting with your feet and leaving makes a difference. I'm not ready to make that move yet either, but saying that the country will fix itself if nobody leaves is rubbish. We can't do anything without the government backing us, and they're not. They don't care. They all have mansions, bullet proof cars and body guards.
 
Uhm, okay... So I should just ignore the news and the journalists and it'll all go away?

But you see, yesterday night my uncle got hijacked. And a few months ago my grand parents and my aunt got hijacked. And about a year ago I go smashed and grabbed. And about 2 years ago my neighbour got abducted. And about 4 years ago my other neighbour got hijacked.

So uhm... What good will ignoring the media do me when the crime is right here in front of me!!?!?!
 
And at the age of 18 I watched my best mate get gunned down in his driveway in an attempt to hijack him. They saw me approaching in my car and fled. They took nothing but his life! These stories are still prevalent, so has anything really changed? No!

The thing is that yes, there are good things happening. Yes, we do live in a beautiful country (those of us in Cape Town, anyway ;)). Yes, it's great that some people who didn't have houses now do.

But... those good things don't make up for the bad things. How many new houses balance out a murder or a rape? They just aren't equivalent. The good doesn't make the bad less bad.

So yes, acknowledge that there are some good things happening. Acknowledge that there are also bad things happening. And somehow we have to learn to live with both.

The people that just get use to it is the problem.......

The more people that are willing to say "NO it stops here", the easier it will be...
 
Yep, it those damn journos. Trust them to mess up the country.

Or maybe I am just confused? Do the journalists create all the problems just so that they can make a living, or do those problems exist anyway?

So, Mark Berger, instead of watching the sunsets, whining about the realists and assaulting policemen, why don't you go and join the police reservists or help lancelot sweep up the beaches?
