The fact that you're even asking, means that the MAC is not for you!

oh well, not everyone can be creative.

Why else would you honestly spend so much more money on a Mac if you aren't a creative? For business and gaming a mac is not a good option. If you don't use your Mac for designing/editing then all you use it for is web browsing and looking pretty or what am I missing here?

Really?, I use my mac's for business, I can work on Excel spreadsheets (Numbers), do Powerpoint presentations (Keynote), create Word documents (Pages) use Mail, create invoices and use Skype for telephonic support.

I even play a game sometimes(Multiwinia).

Even for creative work they hold no actual advantage. Any advantage they had in these areas disappeared at least a decade ago.

Actually not, I was helping a cartographer client of mine yesterday, he does African country maps for publishing, now take a country like Botswana or Namibia, all the objects in a map of those countrys have approx 500 000 + objects in Adobe Illustrator. Loads it no problem on a Mac Pro with 10 GB of RAM. (I watched it load yesterday, one map takes 2 GB of physical RAM and 3 GB of Virtual RAM, Both Maps use about 8 GB of Ram altogether.)

My point being is that Mac's are still the best when it comes to handling those kind of Ram intensive loads.

With a Mac you pay a bit more initially then don't have to put up with any BS from AV software, Microsoft and their buggy updates, 3rd party products which don't work and of course any app can destroy the Windows installation by corrupting the registry enough. Plus OSX is easier to use than Windows for new people and you don't need an MCSE to properly maintain the thing (debug, configure firewalls, AVs, defrags, registry cleanup, startup cleanup, extension cleanup) plus less BS like stealing your focus of attention when you're typing something - a stupid dialog box for some obscure function doesn't pop up and eat the last two sentences of your typing.

Yes there is some truth to that since Macs now run on Intel CPUs with the same other hardware as Microsoft based laptops but Mac's are built with the designer in mind and workflow is much quicker on OS X. But I can't justify spending R20k-R30k on a notebook unless you make use of the power.

Are you basing that on personal experience?

I don't have to run AV software
I don't have to defrag
I don't have to worry about Malware
OS is not giving #*$%^! popup messages/bubbles when i do stuff
Powerful machines (Apple laptops are priced the same for what you get in a similar laptop loaded with Windows)
iLife

If you don't care about the above DON"T get an Apple pc.
If i had to go with a "PC" i'd load Linux on it! at least try THAT out!

Mac can extend you life

My grandmother loves her Mac, I bought her one after my grandfather died 5 years ago. She plays games, emails, skypes etc.

It has been a fantastic tool to keep her mind active and to be in touch.

If, I had bought a Windows machine, do you think it would as smooth sailing?

NOT, in almost every conceivable way. In fact, it could have done her more harm than good.
