Hi good people,

What grfx card would you recommend for gaming in the R1500 - R2000 budget to use with Core2Duo E6400 on Intel Bad Axe motherboard? Used to be a bit of a Nvidia fan, but not too fazed either way.

I am also looking for another case and a descent power supply... will be running 3 HDD's and DVD-ROM so no crazy power needs other than grfx card i guess.

hehe... yeah, looks like i have only option then...

would there be much of a difference between the 512Mb and 1Gb versions of the cards for gaming performance?

Depends on the size of your monitor.... If you have a 22"+, then a 1GB would be better. Anything smaller and a 512MB will serve you well

actually from 23" & up (1080+) get the 1gb..less than that get the 512mb..just get the 1gb for future proof!

4870 1GB is the business and can't be beat in yourprice range.

I would get the 1GB regardless of screen size. When you upgrade and get a bigger screen and go XFire you'll have "future proofed" yourself as much as you can.

The 1gig is out his price range. Just get the 512. R2000 at prophecy.

budgets... price ranges... always a relative thing :D

thanks for the advice though, was thinking about getting a nice full HD res monitor anyway, so will look at my options for 1GB cards.

Does brand name really matter when buying a grfx card?

4870 i reckon.

+3 4870 FTW!

+4 4870, would have taken it if my 4850 wasn't bought.

I vote 260GTX :D
