A huge financial setback

Arg hahahaha, your advice is optional. If one wants to take some points from it, they are free to do so.
I just wonder why people ask for advice and when you give them some points they still do what their mind thinks is right.

ok, so you think that getting an engine mount and a few other things fixed is a waste of time and money?
and OP should rather take the loss, great as it will be, throw away the car, BIG knock financially, MUCH worse than fixing the car?

I take it you've thrown away quite a few cars previously in your life?

I know some people Dont like this guy, but his advice is sound IMO ,

Obviously repairing the car is much cheaper, I don’t think you understood what I meant.

You have given the OP sound advice, if he chooses to ignore or take it that’s his option really. Lots of people will post threads looking for advice but never really take them. My wish is if he’s wise, he will go back on the insurance, and cancel the rest. Repair the car himself or Take the car to a mechanic which he has done, and source the required parts and get it repaired.
You taking time to help him find some parts is what a normal kind person would do but if he chooses to see past that then that’s his problem I guess.
I haven’t lost a car and I don’t wish it upon anyone but I have had a major repair done to my car last year, all came out of my pocket and I’m still recovering from it but if I had sold it it would’ve cost me more to get a new car.

I wish people would listen to mr kilmer. He always gets to the point when it comes to cars.

excellent response , I pointed out my story, even was plenty of threads about it,
here is one OP, same exact story as yours, actually even worse, ECU damage X2

and here is how I even started with my car, check the size of that exhaust out,
gone now, but scars still remain,

Just take it to wesellcars.co.za they will pay as long as it drives lol

old story by now, may on mybb still bring it up from time to time,

actually brought it at imperial auctions in isando.

fixed up now, exhaust off, replaced with a standard one, stickers off, suspension reset to regular height,
cone filter removed, replaced with stock unit,

and yip had lots of sleepless nights, but car looks almost stock nowadays.
aside from some scratches under the bumper and some hail damage.

Quick question, what will you do if just you cancelled the insurance, something happens to the car? Say the car fixing it has a fire in his workshop and the car burns to ashes, what position will you be in then?

A risk, but I am with him on this one. The car is not usable at the moment and I think he has resigned himself to the fact that he is going to pay off the loan either way. He can use the money for the insurance to put it into the loan and pay it off, if he happens to lose the car for whatever reason, then bad luck happens, but I just don't see the point of paying R2100 towards a broken car, putting you money into insurance does not sound like a bright idea, what if they find a reason not to pay out? Looking at OP with his issues I am sure they can find a way.

I missed that, is he paying R2100 a month for insurance, for one car? Holy crap, that's day light robbery. BUt he would still be completely out of pocket if crap hits the fan, whereas he could still claim if he has insurance.

Insurance, warranty and tracker, the warranty that he is somehow unable to claim from at the moment, for whatever reason.

At least drop it to 3rd party insurance, will be a lot cheaper and if that fire does happen... :D

Don’t like him tbh.

He does dispense good advice,
And he's honest and a old school mechanic.

People need that nowadays, like Trump who calls a spade a spade.

Not a earth implementation instruments of some fancy name like that.

If it's the same oke you posted in the luxury car thread then he is a clueless annoying twat...

The annoying guy gave some advice on tuning a carburetor with only your ear and that method has never let me down.

Most You tube people are annoying in some way, don't see anything exceptional with this guy. The Auto doc guy is cool though.

Afternoon

Yes the car is at home going to fix the engine mounting and try to sell it.

Fix it and then keep it. Once you've paid it off, you're out of that debt and you have a car that costs you no money per month.
