Hi all

I have an iPhone 6S from a user who has left the company. I've done a complete wipe on the phone however on activation it asks me to type in his apple ID and password. Only thing is it looks like he's deleted his Apple ID as when I do a search for it, it says no Apple ID with his email address exists. I've logged into his work email account and done a search for Apple and he definitely did use his work email address as his Apple ID.

So how can I activate this phone if the Apple ID it's linked to doesn't exist anymore? Can I create an Apple ID with his work email address and login with that?

TIA

It's already linked to his Apple account. He needs to come in and remove his details from it or delete the iPhone from his iCloud account.

If the device is erased

Ask the previous owner to enter their Apple ID and password on the Activate iPhone screen to remove the device from their account.
If the previous owner isn't present, contact them and ask them to follow these steps to remove the device from their account:
Sign in to iCloud with their Apple ID.
Go to Find My iPhone.
Select All Devices to open a list of devices linked to their account, then select the device to be removed.
Click Remove from Account.
After the previous owner removes the device from their account, turn off the device and then turn it back on to begin the setup process.

If it was definitely made with his work email address and the ID has been deleted, you may as well make a new one and give it a try

It hasn't been deleted...

Not from the phone... If the Apple ID itself isn't found by Apple when "forgot password" is clicked, then the account itself could have been deleted and reinstating will allow the iPhone to be activated

The phone needs the email and password that were used to activate it originally, Stickfigure needs to find out what email/password the person used to activate the phone, anything else is just guesswork and time wasting...

If it was an employee he must have contact details to get in touch with the person.

He used his work email address. I've logged into it and I've found emails from Apple where he's changed his password, billing details etc.

However if I go online and do a forgot password, when I type in his work email, it says no Apple ID exists with that email address. That's where the confusion has come in.

However I got his personal email, used that for the forgot password and it found it. So he's obviously changed the email on his Apple ID from his work to his personal.

I've contacted him already and asked him to remove the device. Hopefully he isn't spiteful.

I have kinda the same issue, only problem is, the user was retrenched and we don't have contact with here anymore. iStore doesn't want to help us, even though we proofed that we purchased the phone.

And that's why you have MDM for company issued phones instead of letting each oke set it up like his "personal" device.

And no you don't need to fork out money, there are free tools to do it from Apple directly.

Try contacting Apple in the US. I was helping a friend that forgot both the Apple ID and password and they seemed to say it was possible for them to help if I had the proof of purchase although wherever I've read about it, it seems like they shouldn't be able to but its worth a shot!

Friend managed to figure out the details about 5 minutes before one of the supervisors at Apple called me back.
